Benjamin 'Dark' Martlew
Benjamin is a Gothic and High fantasy enthusiast. He was introduced to the genre about 9 years ago by things such as Lord Of the Rings, The Hobbit, Fiest and Warhammer Role Play. He likes writing short strories, RPG campaigns, poems and passages of creative writing. :PI love to write anything from stories and poems to songs, music, nonsense verse, and weird passages of creative writing.
A lot of my stuff is not on Elfwood yet, as I have a habit of either not completing it, or picking it to pieces when it is.
My inspiration comes from whatever is around me; history, music and real people/happenings mostly. Writers who inspire me are
Tolkien, Fiest, Eddings, Poe, Gav Thorpe, Dan Abnett, William King, Jack Yeovil (Kim Newman), Lewis Carroll, and others.
At present, my only ambition is to have a short story published in the anthology 'Inferno!'. If that happens I will start writing more seriously, perhaps writing a novel or an anthology.
In my spare time my main hobby is fencing, which I have been doing for about eight years. I love music of any kind, but my real love is for Iron Maiden, whom I have seen several times in concert ( \m/ ). I can play the keyboard and the bass guitar, like to sing, and mess about with panpipes for fun.
**UPDATE MAY 2004**
I've added a few poems, but no stories yet, for some reason (?). I'm not focusing on them enough. Anyway, I'm quite pleased with what I've got done. Some of the poems aren't serious, but were fun to wite. Perhaps I'll get my first short story done soon.
WARNING I can't stand silly comments. By all means, comment on my work; criticize it if you want to, but DON'T write stuff like 'Wheeeeeeeeee COOOOOL', or 'ChEK oWt mY ArT Site!', or start a message board with your mates in my comments (grr). If you do, I'll delete your comments. So there :)
