The sun was setting on the horizon on another cool summer day of the meadow.
A young family of wolves lived in these parts of the beautiful blue grassed lands; but a peaceful land of any kind eventually faces danger…
Off in the shadow part of the wide meadow lived a dark brown wolf named Iceblaze.
His cold blue eyes stared at the family of wolves in the middle of the meadow with out a care in the world….normally he could care less about other wolves, but this one family had a special pup….out of the litter of five there was one silver wolf while the others were black, gray, and brown. This silver pup could be taken as a white wolf from a far. Her coat was as bright as the moon itself in the sky-which became her name….Moonlghtshadow; Moon for short.
Iceblaze had lived long enough to know the long forgotten legend of the pure silver wolf. In a time long before humans there was a tell of a silver wolf that when born would be seen as a white goddess of the wolves, she fur would be of one that can shine in the darkness and make even the moon envious. This silver ‘goddess’ would be the key to great power…a power Iceblaze had been waiting for, for years. When time had past with no hope of the silver wolf being born the tell became just that, nothing more then a tell….but Iceblaze still kept his hope to one day see this sliver goddess and now he was seeing his long life he had waited for….and he wasn’t about to pass it up.
He watched the young pup grow in his black glass ball inside his den cave.
----
Moonlightshadow ran after her two sisters, Result and Shift, both were gray wolves.
“I’m going to get you!” Moon yelled chasing them.
“Moon can’t get us! Moon can’t get us!” they both chanted jumping around to throw there younger sister off.
Shift ran around behind Moon but tripped and Moon pounced on her. “Tag your it!” she cheered.
Shift got up and shook some dirt off for her self. “You cheated Moon.” She wined.
“I did not!” Moon snapped.
“Yeah you did! And I’m telling mom!” Shift whined in a crying tone.
“Whatever...I’m done playing anyways…” Moon replied stomping away.
Moon sat under a small tree-the only one in the meadow and watched her sisters play annoyed.
“Sup sis?”
Moon looked up and saw her brother Firefic. He was a lovely red wolf like there dad and the oldest.
“Shift is such a pain sometimes.”
Firefic chuckled and set down next to his baby sister.
“Its just in her nature sis…she’ll out grow it.” He said with a hopeful smile.
“I wish she’d grow out of it now…” Moon remarked and Firefic smiled at her before nudging her playfully.
“Come on me and Micmack are going to go get some water-you look like you could use a drink.”
Moon looked up at him and then over to were her other brother was, Micmack was the fourth youngest and the black wolf in the family. Shift and Result were twins and the third youngest leaving Moon to be the five youngest and over all baby of them all.
“Ok…” she said at last.
As the pups walked to the watering hole Iceblaze saw this as the prefect chance to get what he wanted.
Shift and Result were still playing with out a care and never saw the shadow that covered them….but they did here the cries there mom and dad gave right before they gave an earth shattering cry themselves.
The meadow rang out with cries and reached Moons and her brothers ears.
“What was that?” Moon asked.
Micmack sniffed the ground before answering. “It sounded like mom and dad…”
Firefic looked around for any sign of anything but didn’t see anything in sight. “Come on let’s get back….” He said slowly walking back the way they came.
Heading back home they soon found what they feared. Laying on the ground was the pups mother, father and sisters.
“Mom! Dad!” Moon yelled running to them, her brothers right behind her.
The wolves didn’t have any sing of damage but did appear dead.
Firefic’s ears went down in despair. “No…”
“Shift! Result!” Micmack yelled tears rolling down his face as he tired to wake them up.
“Mic! Stop it! That’s not going to help!” Firefic yelled seeing his brother panic.
Moon just looked at her fallen family members and let the tears fall, not sure what else to do.
Suddenly an evil laugh caught the three of them off guard.
Moon snapped up to see who it was but before she even had her head turned around she saw her two remaining brothers fall to the ground in the same state as the others.
“NO!” she tried to reach them before they hit the ground but her short lags didn’t make it.
“Pity…I guess they can’t help you either…”
Moon looked around in fear for the voice. “Who…who are you?”
“Me?” the voice mocked.
Moon looked around in a panic; Iceblaze then appeared right behind her from no where.
“Why I’m your new master….” He grinned.
Moon stared at him in horror and slowly backed away.
“Oh, my dear-there is no need to be so afraid…I mean you no harm….as long as you give me what I want.” He smiled what Moon could take as an evil smirk.
“What do you want with me?” she asked trying to act a little brave, but failed.
Iceblaze just chuckled, “Why your beloved powers my dear….give them to me-and I’ll set your families souls free from the ice chamber I have them in.”
Moon froze at this. “You….your some kind of witch….”
Again Iceblaze laughed, “No, but you are very close….I’m what someone would call a wizwolf…close to a witch-but a witch is human….and as you can clearly see I’m not for the human kind.” He smiled with amusement.
“But I don’t have any powers….” Moon replied.
“Oh, but you do…you just need to awaken it….”
Moonlightshadow took a step closer to Iceblaze. “And how do I do that?”
“All you have to do my dear is find a gold jewel-this jewel has been around for years, and only the wolf goddess can find it. Once found by the pure silver wolf, which is you; your powers will be forever awakened.” He explained with what Moon could describe as a crazy grin.
Moon looked at her family and felt another tear soak into her fur. “If I do this, you will release my family?”
Iceblaze nodded.
Moon wiped her eyes with a paw and looked Iceblaze in the eyes. “I’ll find this gold jewel and give you may powers….but you better set my family free like you said.”
“A deal is a deal my girl.” He smirked.
“Where will I find this jewel?”
“You will find this gold treasure in the hidden valley down at the foot of this meadow, and inside a forgotten cave that no one dares enter…but you being the silver wolf of legend will have no problem entering or exiting this so called dangerous cave.”
Moon slowly nodded sealing the agreement.
Right away, as if not to waste time, she ran off to the said destination.
As Iceblaze watched Moon a huge evil grin spread across his face. “That’s right my pet…go get it.”
Moon ran as fast as her little paws could go, tears running down her face; at that moment she didn’t care about anything but setting her family free-even if it meant giving up her own life in the end.
Soon Moon found herself a long way from the meadow. Looking around she noticed she was in a dark creepy forest.
She ran everywhere trying to find a way out and to find the cave of which Iceblaze spoke of…but in the end she found she was lost and now more scared and upset then before.
Moon crawled under a tree and started to sob.
“What are you crying for?” Moon shot her head up at the sudden voice.
Standing right in front of her was a brought red wolf.
Moon slowly stood before answering, “I…I’m lost….and if I don’t find a way out of here I may never see my family again.”
The red wolf made a face at this, “Then why did you run away to begin with?”
“I didn’t run away!” Moon snapped making more tears fall.
“Well if you didn’t run away then what are you doing all the way out here?” the red wolf questioned.
Moon scowled at him. “None of you business!” and with that walked off to find a way out once more.
The red wolf slowly began to follow her.
“What do you want?” Moon snapped after seeing he was behind her.
The red wolf gave a grin. “Well since I know these woods like the back of my paw, I thought maybe I’d keep an eye on you so you don’t get into any trouble.”
“I don’t need you help.” She remarked.
“Suite you’re self, but if you really want to find a way out and see you family again, it might be in your good mind to let me help you.”
“And why would a jerk like you want to help me?”
The red wolf now gave a sheepish grin. “Oh, my apologies, I did not notice that I offended you back there….please allow me to start over. My name is Starstorm.”
Moon wiped a tear away, “My name is Moonlightshadow, Moon for short.”
Starstorm smiled, “Now will you let a jerk like me help you?” he joked and Moon nodded.
As the two walked Moon explained everything.
“That’s horrible….I’m so sorry.” Starstorm replied.
“I just have to find that gold jewel.”
“And you will…because I’m going to help you.” Moon looked up at Starstorm with a huge smile that clearly read ‘thanks’.
Star lead Moon to the cave, “See I told you know this place like the back of my paw.” He bragged. “However I fear once entered, we may never get out…chosen one or not.”
Moon nodded in understanding, “For my family it’s a risk I have to take.” She slowly started to enter.
Starstorm began to follow.
“Star? Why are you coming in-you could be killed.”
“This is true, but I’d never be able to forgive my self if I allowed you to go in alone.” He smiled.
Both Moon and Star went deep into the cave in search for the gold jewel.
The cave was big by very narrow, and there didn’t seem to be any danger.
Soon Moon saw it, the jewel was on a rock in the far back of the cave. “Look Star! Over there!”
Both of them ran to the jewel but once Moon brushed it ready to take it into her mouth the jewel shattered.
“What! No!” Moon yelled seeing it vanish into nothing. Moon suddenly when into panic; digging at the spot the jewel was once at crying hard. “NO! I need that! Please this can’t be happening!”
“Moon.” Star began running to her side. “Moon please you have to calm down-Moon!” Moon then collapsed into his chest bursting into tears.
“Now I’ll never be able to save my family.”
Starstorm nuzzled she sweetly, “Don’t worry…I’m sure there is another way to set your family free…and I won’t rest until we find it.”
“Thank you…” Moon whispered.
Leaving the cave Starstorm glanced back, it was clear since the cave of danger never gave them any thing to worry about that Moonlightshaodw was the gifted silver wolf, but one thing didn’t seem right…why did the jewel shatter?
Exiting the woods and heading back to the meadow where Iceblaze was, the two planed on telling him all that had happened and to convince him that the ledged was just that and nothing more, and hopping he would set Moon’s family free.
“Ah, I see the great silver goddess has returned, and with good news I would hope.” He grinned.
Moon put her head down. And Star spoke. “The jewel shattered when Moon touched it.” He was about to say more but Iceblazes laugh broke any thoughts he had.
“It shattered you say?” his eyes beaming.
“Yes-now can I have my family back? I already told you I don’t have any powers.” Moon pleaded.
Giving a evil grin Iceblaze remarked. “Oh you have powers….see my dear-that Gold jewel was the only thing keeping me from using my power to the fullest…see I would never be the most powerful wolf in the world as long as the retched jewel existed…but only the silver wolf could destroy it…and that my dear is what you just did…for that cave is forbidden for anyone to enter…except the Silver Goddess by setting my powers free-you got rid of yours.” He laughed.
Moon and Star’s eyes got wide.
“And now my dear…I think its about time you joined your family.” Iceblaze shot a power blast right at her.
Before the blast hit her Star pushed her out of the way and dogged the blast himself.
Iceblaze began firing at will making the two pups run for their lives.
Both them ran behind a rock. “What can we do?” Moon asked both in fear and worry.
“I don’t know…but we have to do something.”
Iceblaze blasted the rock and laughed when he used a shadow like tentacle and grabbed Starstrom.
“STAR!” Moon cried.
Iceblaze grinned and chocked Starstorm making him cry in agony.
“Tell me my dear…how much does this pathetic wolf mean to you?” again he tightened the tentacle bring out another pained cry from the red wolf.
“Leave him alone!”
Iceblaze laughed, “Why? When I’m having too much fun…” Star screamed as they heard bones crack.
Moon began to cry but suddenly got mad…as she sat on the ground staring at the sight before her, her purple eyes began to turn golden yellow….
Iceblaze didn’t notice this chance and just kept laughing but stopped once he felt something sharp go into his side.
Moon had levitated a long sharp edge stick and had jabbed it into his side.
Iceblaze let Star go and growled in anger. “Why you little!”
Leaping at her, Moon froze him in mid air.
“You shouldn’t be able to do that! What’s going on!” he snapped.
Coughing Star grinned, “Simple…that gold jewel may set your powers free…but it also binds her powers only to be released when someone she loves is hurt.”
Iceblaze got wide eyed at this truth.
Moon had no face expiration, just bright gold eyes staring into him.
Before Iceblaze could move Moon’s powers began to form a ball of light that in closed him.
“NO! Wait what are you doing!?” he yelled.
With out a word the light around him got brighter and exploded.
As the shards of light fell to the ground Star saw just what had happened to Iceblaze….the brown wolf was now a brown fox.
Star couldn’t help but giggle, “Is…that your true form?”
Growing Iceblaze answered. “I was born to be a wolf! Not a fox! I’ve fought my whole life to gain power to become a wolf for life-but still I get trapped in foxes body!”
Moon’s eyes when back to normal.
“I have now showed you for what you are…however you still have my family trapped….set them free and I will grant you the body of your dreams…”
Iceblaze looked at Moon as if she had gone mad. “What? You mean after all I just put you though you’ll still show that kind of mercy?”
Moon took a deep breath and nodded with a smile.
Iceblaze’s suddenly felt his heart hurt…. “I’ll set your family free...” he answered, a small tear falling from his face.
Setting her family free Moon ran to them and pounced on each one happy they were okay and alive, and looked back over at the ashamed fox.
“A deal is a deal.” She smiled. And with that Iceblaze became a beautiful brown and red wolf.
Moon had never felt more proud of herself. In a way she had to thank Iceblaze…for now her life just got better- the time her family was trapped made her see just how much she loved them, and them her. And she made a new friend…who now that she thought about it…wasn’t just a friend…but something much more.
Moon and Starstorm nuzzled and all of them in that small meadow lived-happily ever after.
