Here is the most infamous cameo in Marbled Cake. Only when the players had bested him in combat did they learn his true identity. Here he is in his last stand, deep under the catacombs of Sigil, a pair of devious tso beside him, and shadows (shades of the dead) are lurking in the tunnels. It's him they're after.

Nice composition, only too bad the contrast isn't as good as it could have been. I think the shading of the figures in the front should have been darker. Would have put them more to the front. Nice design of those Tso creatures also. I'm getting more and more enthusiastic about this online campaign you're running. Been reading a bit, and it all seems amazingly extensive. So if you're ever in need of an extra player... 12.

:-) David Mitchell replies: "Yep, I was focused on making the shadows (the undead, I mean) darker than the dark itself, and unfortuantely the Bringer doesn't contrast or blend in (either one would do) as well as I'd hoped. Perhaps I should have reversed the colors of the darkness and the shadows themselves in addition to bringing out the Bringer and the tso.And well...you know where to go if you want to join (if you don't, email me). Heh. Unfortunately this gallery contains quite a few spoilers... 1"

I LOVE those creatures, they are soo cool! the insect legs make them nicely creepy. What is that in the side? A man or a shadow? Very Ominous....

As of today this pic has been replaced with a new version, though I'm not sure it's much better. What I did was use ink on the background (this is copy) to make it more solid than before, but the shades are now barely visible. Perhaps I'll inlude both versions.

I'd say it's better. Creating large black areas with pencil usually doesn't work out too well. With ink on the other hand, it does. True, there's only one shadow visible, but that's just a matter of composition. He really looks like a shadow now, blending in with the dark background.

This drawing has a lot of dinosaurs.

Good shadow work in this one! Like the beasts around the human character.
