Just a portrait of a Water Nymph. I wanted to avoid doing the obvious background of blue, to represent water, so I thought of other ways to show that she does not live on the earth. I used shells, starfish and seaweed in her hair. I thought that the shell over her ear allows her to hear everything that is going in the ocean as it amplifies sound....that way she can watch over all creatures of the sea.  I decided that she would not have irises or pupils because she does not need to focus her eyes in light and dark, she can see all areas underwater.  Watercolor on paper  9x12 inches

Is this a she? If so, she is extemely beautiful, and very well painted on your part, but there is just one problem; she does appear to have an Adam's apple, hence my confusion. Aside from that, stunning work. Congratulations.

13 Deanna Davoli replies: "  yes, this is a she, I did not mean for it to appear as an adam apple, just a contour in her neck, but I did upload the wrong version of this picture on mistake because I do have more of it cropped off on the bottom. Thanks for commenting."

this is a very beautiful picture, she is very elegant and refined. The only thing that detracts from the picture, in my opinion, is that her neck fades into a white area instead of shoulders, you could draw her shoulders or crop the picture higher to enhance the composition.
I do really like her face and all the marine accesories, plus the palette you chose.

13 Deanna Davoli replies: "thanks for the comment....i accidentally uploaded the wrong picture, i do have one cropped so that her neck does not just end but I didn't realize it until it was too late. thanks for the comment."

Very pretty! I like the blue eyes and refreshing look at a water nymph, not blue-haired and floating around in the ocean like a lot of others.

1 Deanna Davoli replies: "Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. I didn't want her to look like the typical water nymph, so I am glad that you can appreciate that."

Thats a beautiful picture you've painted here except her neck looks a little funny

14 Deanna Davoli replies: "Thanks, actually the neck was not suppose to show up, I accidentally uploaded the wrong jpeg. I leave extra space on my paintings so that it is easier for my framer to mat them, so basically the lower portion of the picture is cut off in my prints of this picture."
