SciFi and Fantasy Art The prince went a-hunting by Diana M Chien

I really loved the prince character from The Dryad and the King's Son, so I wanted to do another piece with him, showing him before he set out on the hunting expedition that led to his encounter with the lonely/predatory (depending on how you look at it) dryad. (maybe I'll write the full fairy tale one day?) Unfortunately, I got his hair wrong - maybe it's his brother instead? Still, this was fun, and it turned out much like I wanted it to, though in retrospect, I wish I had done it in larger format. I wanted the background to look very simple and minimal.

Watercolor and brown ink, 2.5" by 3.5" on cardstock, July 2008.
