We all struggle through the rough patches during life...this is a symbolic poem about doing just that and finding you were stronger than you ever believed.

Arisen

I stand upon grandeur

Of ice riven granite,

Trust redolent in the air.

My breath is laboured,

Feathering the chill

And grass stains smudge

My hands and knees.

But I am here

I am whole

I am re-newed.

Ah-hah! I knew this looked new! I'm glad I got the first comment of this simple poem with such grand ideas and emotions tied into the words. I love the way you make an idea so to the point and understandable. I love how easy it is for me to read and understand, while still having that aire of something greater behind it. Very nice... I leave this poem feeling as if I've watched a mountain be born, or the last surviving warrior from a long-fought battle standing to survey his horizon. Very symbolic, very understandable. Great job, Deborah.

The imagery here is beautiful. I love the way you manage to convey the struggle that the narrator had to overcome to "arise." As usual, this is incredible, short but totally meaningful. Now, if only James Joyce could have used so few words to get his point across, I might have enjoyed "Dubliners" . . . ^_-

I can just see someone scrambling over rocks and mud to get to the top of the hill, only to find they're looking across fields and fields of bright, beautiful colours... wonderful.

This is beautiful, classic. I love it even if it is not like me at all to feel this way. I stand admiring.

Nice little inspirational. Good use of language.
