The Dragon Within

My life is bathed in shadow

It slinks around my Soul,

With glimmering opalescence

Its presence takes its toll.

It watches on with eyes of gold

Patient, ever-wise

I feel the darkness lurking

An enigma in disguise.

But as I too gain wisdom

My courage seems to grow

And though I walk in shadows wake

The darkness ebbs and flows.

I chance a glimpse of shadow

Its edges gilt in light

But the glance is fleeting

And I plunge back into night.

My life is cloaked in shadow

It lingers in my mind

Though is the dragon evil

Or is the dragon kind?

When the darkness beckons

Reach out and draw it near

For within the dragon’s shadow

Will come the strength you fear.

What once was the dragon

Now fulfils its holy goal

To balance out the light and dark

To complete the immortal Soul.

A nice variation on the poem I read before. Very strong, very sensitive.

Another good one, although I like the first one better. ^_- I thought "an enigma in disguise" was repetitive, but it has a nice ring to it.

I believe Mikhail said it best. "Do we posess the beast, or does the beast posess us?" I love it, Deborah.

If a poem must rhyme, it should read like this one. This is very good 19)

You could do a bit of tweaking on a few of the lines and get the metre down phat... but it's wonderful how it is. I envy you for being able to write poetry like this... the imagery! The visions! -sighs.-

I think you're really good! *starry eyed* I do the poetry thing too, but I'm never really sure how sinsear people are (bad spelling) This is good, I can't say great, because I can tell from the words you use, and the atmosphere of the poem, you're talent extends beond this, I think it IS great, but not for you, for you just good. a few beats were off, but i think it was worth it to not have to cut out the true message. I hope you realise saying it's 'just good' gor you doesn't mean anything mean, It means you just havn't reached your peak yet, but you're doing a h311 of a great jub getting there! (sorry 'bout spelling)

definitely worth the recommendation from woodworks. The message/moral is one very close to my heart and this is a wonderfully visual way to describe it. It really does weave a web of magic. Thank you for writing this. 2 and keep facing that darkness...
