After taking a 2 week Comic Book design class (which 'Betrothed' is from) during the summer, I decided to convince my art teacher at USM that I should do a comic in my Advanced Studio class. :-D It worked. This time, though, I also colored it on PS. I am not a suberb PS colorer, but I figured this assignment would force me to be more exposed to PS and learn more about the program (which I did). This 5 page piece is based off a random dream I had about aliens attacking a ship. I kinda sorta have this very vague idea of a story...but it isn't very developed, and with as many OTHER stories I have brewing in my head, I think this one will have to wait. Also, if you look at the rest of my gallery, I don't normally dive into the sci-fi genre that much, I'm the more high fantasy sort of girl. ^_~ So, that was another reason I choose the sci-fi way, to do something different. Although for the past month I've had no life, since this project has consumed me, I still really enjoy doing graphic stories...I've got a lot I can improve on in how I set up the designs of my pages, but perhaps someday I can convince someone one of my stories are worth telling, and get my own graphic novel published. ^_^* ~Drawn in India ink on a blueboard, colored in PS CS, Fall 2004~

22 Dec 2004	Thomas H. Saxon	Loading... This John chappie looks a lot like Rocko from Undergrads... But great comic. I've tried before, but never had the patience to do a full comic. Samantha J. 22 Dec 2004	Anonymous	Loading... A bit of constructive criticism if you are of a mind to hear it. Examine your own thoughts..when you are having bad day do you usually start sorting your thoughts with "first there was.." Or, do you just think, "John is such a bastard." My point is, we tend to think of things in order of emotional importance instead of chronology, and we usually don't start our own thoughts off with things like "first, next, and last" Just a thought. Samantha J. Nowak replies: "I can understand where you're coming from. People do tend to think that way...I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the crit!"

Didn't understand what was the matter with John until I got to the second page though...lol The comic was very well done, and I have to agree with you at the end, I'm not really sure if sending her outside of the protective ship was all that great of an idea...lol Luverly job!! ~Megs The Gothic Tigress Samantha J. 23 Dec 2004	Anonymous	Loading... great page. small commemt since I've taken a computer class where I've had to make a website and I made a web-comic, dont't double space after a period. From a design point, it looks awkward. Samantha J. Nowak replies: "You know, I remember looking at my own collection of comics thinking "Huh, they don't double space after any periods..." but then I went and forgot that when actually writing my own comic. ^_^*"
