Are you welcome to this dark, lonely grove of Elfwood? Or is your presence even noted by the wyvernlings whose sinuous bodies twine over the mossy branches? Their low purring is the only sound besides the drip of water from fern and leaf. All around you, ancient contorted oak and dark-needled fir tower and crowd, their tangled limbs cutting off every misty gleam of sunlight from above. No flowers bloom, only thorny briars, luxurient ferns, creeping mosses, and the mottled gleaming mushrooms like the bellies of toads, the mushrooms said to give visions of the worlds beneath the amber sea. Even the silken-whiskered wyvernlings are creatures of shadow; their eyes glow round and luminous as harvest moons. But do they see you struggling to disentangle yourself from the thorny barbs of briars, glancing timdily or boldy around the dim boles of trees, or are they watching for someone else entirely? oh, and about me; I'm a very boring person who creates stuff. Like, you know, imaginary stuff. And writes a little. And does digital art with her trusty painter 8 and her sort of trusty but very glorious wacom tablet. COMMENT, YE VIEWERS, I BESEECH YE TRULY! ABANDON ME NOT, IGNORE ME NOT, AND MY ETERNAL GRATITUDE SHALT BE THINE!!!

Thanks for you comment in my gallery, and the amusing emails. Lets see if we can reach 100 Re's! My favourite is "In smoke" but i really like the poem that came with, oh i forgot the title, but you know the one "but no heart/fine I'll settle for the body"
And for some critts, I sugjest you use less of the blender tools on these, thats something tons of digital artists need to keep and eye out for, if not they can turn out artificial looking...Great stuff maia.

| 4 Jul 2005 | Wesley Burness | Hey Maia! Long time no talk! Maybe you will remember me? You saw my Elfwood page a long time ago and convinced me to look at yours, I can truly say I REALLY enjoyed your art, it was fabulous!
Remeber that email chain we had going? It looks like it finally died, but thats the circle of life, LOL we had so many odd convorsations. Maybe we should start a new one?
One last thing before I go, I just made an update on Eflwood, although I'm one of the last in the queue ... sigh, oh well, it looks like we will have to wait at least 10 days before it's published.

I can't believe I haven't visited before. I think I said this somewhere in one of my comments, but I like repeating myself: there are many, many talented artists on Elfwood, but a -much- smaller percentage with their own identifiable, distinctive style. And I LOVE your style.
I've always preferred sketches to outline-and-colour pictures, and textured pictures to clean-filled pictures, so this was a real treat. Please put me on your update list!Thankyou. I'm really glad you like my art, since I like your writing so much. Oh, and I updated! (although mostly I just removed stuff) | |
