The personification of death as a living, sentient entity is a concept that has existed in many societies since the beginning of recorded history.The angel of death was created by God on the first day. His dwelling is in Heaven, whence he reaches earth in eight flights, whereas pestilence reaches it in one. The angel of death, who is identified by some with Satan, immediately after his creation had a dispute with God as to the light of the Messiah.
