Cat Osborne is a woman of many talents. She not only does the illustration work featured in her gallery here on Elfwood, but composes lyrics, poems and stories, designs armor and period costumes, dabbles in leatherworking and whitesmithing, sculpting and painting, and remakes model horses. Her work can be seen literally around the world in the offices and homes of those who have commissioned her talents.
Cat claims to have been heavily influenced by artists such as Aubrey Beardsley, Ann Reese, Hokusai, Kuniyoshi, Sam Savitt, H. J. Ford, Donna Barr, Victory, and Leonardo Da Vinci. Their line work has always fascinated her. It has been difficult to get away from pure line and into shading and color, but she is dilligent in her progression.
Cat has been fortunate enough in her art career to have worked in comics, illustration, tattoo design and just about everywhere else that her ability to work with line art is appreciated. She is currently required to work from home and is creating art full time instead of as a satisfying sideline. Her website/homepage contains links leading to many sights where her work is for sale in various mediums, including prints and rubber stamps (Third Coast Rubber Stamps and OnyxXpressions). ACEOs have become a favorite medium of artistic expression in Cat's studio.
She hopes you enjoy her offerings here on Elfwood, and will stop by her online gallery. Almost all of the art presented here on Elfwood is available for sale in some format, and if you don't find it on her website, just ask. Also available are links to some of her favorite places to go on the net. She hopes you will venture forth and share her interests. Please leave a comment in the Guestbook so she knows you dropped by. Enjoy!

| 22 Oct 2007 | Ruth E. Steinback | Loading...Your linework is remarkably skilled and I’m really quite in awe of it. The clarity and definition of the lines is something I’m working very hard at learning so its impressive to see it carried out so well. And all your stamp designs are so cool! I knew -somebody- had to design artistic stamps like those, but it never really crossed my mind as to who. So it was very neat to come across someone like you who does create them. Cathey Osborne replies: "Thanks! I have studied the Japanese art of Ukiyo-e, which gave me a strong affection for clean lines. It has caused me problems with shading things, though. If you are interested, check out the works of Hokusai, Kuniyoshi, and Yoshi-toshi. be warned that while they created a lot of beauty, it is Japanese and there’s also a lot of violence." | |
