Desiree Alana Sutherland replies: "I struggle with backgrounds and i struggled with this one in particular so i really appreciate this comment. Thank you."

| 18 Aug 2003 | Laura | Loading...Beautiful. When i first saw this pic I though YES, she is the spirit of a new born tree, but I love the guardian interpration of the above commenter too. Maybe she can be both. She has a strength to her face, and you feel that the woodland would be safe with her. Well done. Desiree Alana Sutherland replies: "Thank you. When i drew this i didn't even think of the guardian idea but as soon as i read it i thought that it fit perfectly as well. I don't think i'd like to be caught with an axe in her forest!" | |

looks like the tree was cut down..................And judging by her expression..........She is mumbling curses in her head..........Tehe..........
| 17 Oct 2003 | Freya R. Massey | Loading...Such an original idea. I think it has to be a new born spirit, the way her arms are crossed makes her look like she's slowly unfolding. | |

| 8 Nov 2003 | Lea H. Stretch | Loading...Wow, this is so beautiful! Your best in my opinion. As I have just read the Narnia books by C.S. Lewis and there are Dryads in it, I just wanted to say that when a Dryad's tree is hurt or cut down the Dryad dies (or disappears) with it. Because they are connected to the tree somehow and they each have their own. Just a little bit of information that's probably not the traditional way of a Dryad but yeah...who knows? C.S. Lewis could have had it right. Desiree Alana Sutherland replies: "You know...i do believe C.S. Lewis had it right. I recall reading that at some point somewhere. Well i may be breaking with tradition but it still makes for a spiffy drawing eh? Or you could see it a different way - maybe within the trunk of the dead tree grows a sapling and this is the newborn dryad who is to protect that sapling. " | |
| 5 Jan 2007 | Christine | Loading...Hmm... she looks like a dryad at me. I think I play Dungeon Siege 2 too much! XD I really like the picture! I like how you did her hair and eyes. The trees look like they are smaller than her, oh well! Still looks awsome! | |
