awww i love it so cute!!! i have always wondered....what does Foo mean exactly? Megan (Stormphyre) Perez replies: "Eh. Not totaly sure what it means. I thought it meant luck, but after doing a google search and running across AKC, they say its a shortening of the name of a city they think the actual breed of dog started from. Go figure lol!

| 31 Jul 2009 | Xeno | Loading...Actually, the Foo or Foh dog is a misnomer. It is really a sylized lion used as a guardian spirit outside Bhuddist(Foh) temples. It is usually seen with a ball. The coin-biting version symbolizes good-fortune. Coincidentally, I purchased an exact mirror image, color scheme and all, of this sculpture at a yard sale today for $2. Since foo dogs come in pairs, I’d say I have the mate to yours. | |
