Jason Isaacs as Captain Hook from the live action version of Peter Pan.

Created in pencil crayon and watercolour over 3 days. I don't really do patterning, so you can imagine me tearing my hair out when I was designing the hat and hook! I did plan on doing this in oils, then I found out I was fresh out of white oil paint.....bummer.

I was looking for some photos of Captain Hook, as I am involved in some costume design for an up coming performance (Ballet).

Since, I draw/paint too, I was completed taken with your rendition. Simply AWESOME.

Thanks for posting it to the Web for others to appreciate.

I find, the satisfaction from my artwork, is 40% my personal enjoyment and 60% from the sharing with others, who may even appreciate what I do.

:-) Donna M. Evans replies: "I understand completely what you mean. I mean, its great that other people appreciate it, but you always get the odd few who dont or think you have stolen it, and that’s what annoys me the most, I think. Other than that, it’s very fulfilling, especially if you get work out of it, like I have."

This is a very good painting. I wish you would continue painting different renditions of hook. I think it utterly amazing that Walt Disney stole the image from Barrie. & every image is copyrighted & even the encyclopedia had to get permission to use a Disney picture. I don’t see how one can steal an image of the imagination from a writer so long ago. I can’t even get a picture of Captain Hook for a bookscraping swap. I did find two pictures from a UK painter from another time. They are very interesting, of course the captain has curls like little lulu sort of & his coat has gold edging. Very interesting. Plz pursue these wonderful paintings maybe even your own imagination image of captain hook. WD can steal one image but not everyone’s imagination image of Capt. Hook. Keep on keeping on.

:-) Donna M. Evans replies: "Thank you for your very interesting thoughts and comments! I have another Hook piece up in my gallery too"
