A bowlful of fruit bats have invaded what was supposed to be a generic still life painting! These miscreants delight in causing havoc and disarray, but despite this, fruit bats are nevertheless far sweeter in disposition than vegetable bats.

Considered a delicacy in some countries, fruit bats are a cause for much controversy among vegetarians. As they straddle the boundary between plant and animal, fruit and flesh, most vegetarians abstain from eating them. Therefore, fruit bats are typically enjoyed by time-poor executives wishing to combine their main meal and dessert in a single course.

Sweet picture! As a recent elfwood member, I would have added this to my favorites, but I will be returning shortly. Bats are my favorite animals and I think you did a splendid pun on these creatures. It made me lawl and appreciate creativity so much! Thanks for the pic, when I come back Ill fav you!

(I think I posted a comment here before; something probably ate it) Anyways, this is so cute. I think my favourites are the grape bats-I like their little cattish faces. BTW, where’s this pear bat that Trish is referring to? I can’t find him anywhere!

Unfortunately more than one person (here and on deviantART) have thought the apple bats look more like pear bats- probably if I made their heads less distinct from their body I wouldn’t have this problem!"
