Dai was a cavilier. He sold hot dogs on the beach from his trailer. He lived beneath a domed city, isolated from the wastelands beyond its glass and metal walls. He was a soldier, a slave to a corporation that made him into a killer. He was a fugitive; hiding in the most unlikely of places, knowing it was simply a matter of time. He was never the hero....until he dreamed he was.
He dreamt of a land of wolf-men, faaries, and winged bird-like Zephyrs. Of cat-robots and shady thieves with facial tattoos. He dreamed they had a life of high fantasy and adventure. He dreamed of respect and friendship. And he dreamt of love.
Love of a bird-like woman named Aurora; a woman of innocence and warmth. Unlike the cold hard women of his past, she was soft, inviting. And she loved him too.
Together with the others, they rid a land of its corrupt leadership, they restored hope and peace to a ravaged nation. Together they found happiness...
...and then he woke up.
His mind was torn, unable to forget the dream, it occupied his time. It had been so real. Then he found evidence that the bird-like race existed. There was one held prisoner within the very corporation from which he struggled to escape.
And so Dai found himself searching for a way back in. He had to talk to this creature, this bird-man, and he would. It didn't help that the genetic enhancements in his body were evolving, changing, turning him into what he once dreamed he'd been. He found his way back inside the facility, found his way into the database. He found informaion on Puck, the wolven creature, on Anisha, the robotic cat-girl, and on himself. His true name, his parents, siblings...his kidnapping, and his mutation. He found out the Program paid off his parents.
Eventually he found Anisha, who recognized him. The dream had been shared. Together they found a Zephyr the Program was keeping, and together they rescued him. He beautiful face, his beatiful wings...had all been scarred and cut. He would never fly again, and once free, he asked to be killed.
Dai did so, but only once he'd shown him how to find their homeland. How to find Aurora.
The Dorshii plains were hidden, hundreds of thousands of miles from his domed cities, and hundreds of years behind in technology.
It was exactly like his dream.
...and Aurora, once found, was exactly as he'd dreamt.
Their adventures together...are another story.
(the angelic font behind him...is his name Dai Radley)
