An Everquest erudite mage with her pet. Theres a long story behind this picture, and if you want the complete one, I'd advise you to ask the comissioner. Shortly though, this is a lady always followed by downpour, thats why its raining in the picture. She is also easily annoyed by her fellow creatures - snotty elves and ignorant halflings (yes it is a funny world she lives in) and many encounters end up just like this... her pet returns to her side with bloody fists. As for the picture in itself, Im am very pleased with the outcome. Frankly, right now, I cant find anything that Im not happy with, so Ill just leave it at that.

I cant beleive theres not Like a 100 comments here but oh well

The picture gives me shivers not only from the implecation of her ordering her pet to kill something for maybe just anoying her but also from the spookiness of the fact that its so life like couldnt find anything wrong not only that I ended up stareing forever at it until
i snapped back into my mind and commented on your perfect perfect picture that should have a 100 comments no 200 or maybe.....

Before I comment, I'mgonne do something very stupid.

That's an Eruditof Everquest, don't you think I forgat them after 5 years not playing EQ, I killed them to get good faction with those friendly katmen (don't know their name anymore lol), but if you ask me you have to comment to EQ becouse in theend you make a picture of something of them, but nowhere see a thank you or something to them.

To have that behind me, wow that's such a realistic pic the gras the tree, the erudit, it's so cool.

:-) Karolina 'The DragonSnail' Sefyrin replies: "Well, once when I uploaded a picture with the text saying its a portrait of a character from Everquest, I got my fingers slapped by the moderators, saying I couldnt display them in the normal gallery but should put it up in the fan-section. So now I just put them up as fantasy art, not portraits. I dont think you can really call it fan-art though, since its not a portrait from a certain trademarked character - unless you want to be hardcore and say that all the models in the game are copyright - which, of course, they are. Still, what I do is painting peoples IMAGE of themselves in the game, not the model (race, class) in itself, and as such, it cant really be called fan-art. Right me if Im wrong. Its just my opinion, what do You think?"

8 I didn't want to get you in trouble, I'm so sorry that I did, and I'm sorry for the so many mistakes up there, I writhed with a bad keyboard so that's why I had so many mis tipes up there.

Now back to the picture 2. It's not really fan art, because this character didn't exist in the game, maybe only as player character from you or a friend, in that way this character was created by you, and so you have all the rights of this characters and the makers of Everquest just delivered you the model and profession of it so you could draw it. Fan Art would be if it was a great and mighty person of Everquest like Lady Tunare, but not this, so she is perfect here in the SF&F art, the only thing you just needed to do was to say that it was from Everquest so that evrybody knows that you were inspired by it and that you didn't fantasize it all alone, but that are just details aren't they, you have proven that you are a fantastic drawer and that's the only thing that counts isn't it 1

I hope that you hadn't had to much trouble with the people upstairs and if you did you can send angry e-mails if you want 8

:-) Karolina 'The DragonSnail' Sefyrin replies: "Hehe no worries, as I said they only thought it was considered fan art and asked me to remove the hint to EQ. You have the same opinion as me when it comes to EQ "fan" art though - I assume that since you cant look at the picture and tell that this is "that and that character from that and that server" you cant really say it is fan art. But I dont wanna trouble the moderators and most people that browse through Elfwood have never heard about EQ either, so it doesnt matter much. Its still just what it looks like - a piccy of a darkskinned lady under a tree. =)"

Hehe wish i could draw... but that is awesome.. granted my mage on EQ is a Dark Elf but my cleric is a Erudite.. wonder how well someone could draw a plateclad lady erudite *grins*

This picture is exquisite (as are most of the ones in your gallery). Ignoring the center-piece (who has a great posture, expression etc.), I'd like most of all to admire the tree, the grass and the rain. The colour is just right, the leaves and blades of grass are highly detailed and look real and the bark of the tree is amazing. In fact the tree is one of best I've seen drawn, it's very realistic and interesting.
On the whole a wonderful picture. Evocative. Atmospheric. Authentic.
I raise my hat.

:-) Karolina 'The DragonSnail' Sefyrin replies: "Why thank you! I really appreciate someone sees the effort I put into the background on this, since it was my first rainy-day image ever and I worked a lot to make the colors exactly right. I still believe its one of the best pieces I've made so far, and it will continue to hold my heart, mainly cause of the background. And yes, the tree... Im very fond of trees! ~_^"

pleasepleaseplease make a tutorial for your landscapes! 2 I love seeing pictures with lots of care/detail put into the background, it really does pull it together. I personally am lucky if I can get the person in a picture done before I lose interest nowdays. I am sure if I had a tutorial it would be different 12 12 *nudgenudge* As for the mod stuff, I personally got my fingers slapped for trying to put Dragonlance art into the fan art gallery, I had to move my Dragonlance to my fantasy gallery. It's confusing at times, I guess Everquest is considered a visual reference rather than something like a book ( but I got the costumes from Larry Elmore). Anyways, awesome pictures, you really know your medium.

:-) Karolina 'The DragonSnail' Sefyrin replies: "Yeah I was also confused fromt he start, since very few items in my Everquest portraits are actually taken from the game itself, but anything that has visuals to it I understand is considered fan-art, and mere books, or paper-and-pen RPG pictures would be placed in the Fantasy area. Dont take my word for it though, I might be wrong. =/ Anyway, I'll see if I cant make a tutorial for landscapes too, some day... in the future. 10"

Those flip-flops'll be MURDER when she tries to walk with that lot of skirt on. She better give it to me, just to be on the safe side. *pauses to pick some daisies*

I'm an EverQuest addict myself, so I find I can't refrain from commenting here. My character is a High Elf Magician, so I share the same style of pet as this person had/has. And believe me.....by the time the fight is over - if they actually showed this kind of thing in the game - my air pet would be bloody too since he does most of the beating up on the monsters.

That being said, you've caught the attitude of an Erudite Magician perfectly well. This is lovely.
