I applaud you for having the ability to hold true to your original visualization of these characters, even after the movie. I especially like the way Gimly looks though.I am now finding it particularly hard to visualise on paper these two characters without adding bits from the films to them. (I have this naive view that I am, in some way, original). The fight goes on. Thanks for the comment...

They arent supposed to be around the height of the high-elves and Half-elven like in the movie. They aren't Moriquendi for nothing. And I'm glad someone else oput there dosn't picture Legolas with Blonde hair. Although I imagined him with red hair myself but thats just me.
| 5 Jul 2003 | Majik | Loading...Just my bit on the hair colour spelling debate, 'blonde' used to be the feminine form of the word. For amles 'blond' is the usual spelling and in the intersts of political correctness is now the correct spelling for females as well. People still use blonde. oh, and not all elves have blonde hair, Tinuviel, and by extension, Arwen have dark hair. | |

| 10 Jul 2003 | Laylia Shepherd | Loading...This picture is really amazing. For the whole hair color bit, draw him however you picture him. In fact, as someone mentioned, wood elves have dark hair, so there really is no problem. again, I love the picture. The shading is especially good. | |

Looking at this picture is giving me a migrane just a scribble of lines. A good artist is not made by what they draw but rather by what they see. Pay attention to detail. If you afraid of criticism dont ask for comments on the web.

Screw shadow, if he doesn't want shadow then that shouldn't matter, the picture is great, it's not my visualisation, but i respect and admire his- maybe you should too.
| 14 Oct 2003 | Dagmar Jung | Loading...I love the feeling of companionship in this picture. Elf and dwarf don't look at each other or stand very close, but it's perfectly clear they are very much at ease with each other, talking quietly as they wait for the Saruman's army to approach. Nice details on Gimli's armour and axe. As for the ever ongoing, age-old Legolas'-hair-colour-debate: No fireproof statement for either fair or dark is given in LotR, so it's up to personal interpretation. By the way, if I remember right nothing is ever said about Gimli's hair colour, he could be anything from light blond to night black, but I have never seen his hair colour discussed anywhere. One minor bit of criticism: While Gimli's face is much broader than Legolas', his hands are just as wide as the elf's, which makes them a bit too refined IMO. Keep up the good work! | |
