Elizabeth Ann Duffy

Elizabeth should probably be doing some real work.

I've considered getting rid of my old stuff (some of it dates back to second year of high school) but one, it would involve getting rid of an awful lot of comments and that may bruise my fragile ego, and two, it's nice to look back and see how far I've come. These days I have to fit my art around my university and my novel, so I end up doing most of my work on my knees on the back of the bus during my commute to the city everyday. Most of my stuff is simply novel illustration, but I have the occasional freedstsnding image, and there will probably be a lot more fairy related things soon, all in the name of research you understand.

Interests
Writing, art, cinema, animation (especially Satoshi Kon), theatre, music, history, fantasy (well, obviously), literature, comedy comics/graphic novels.
Favorite Fantasy/Scifi Movies and TV Shows
Hmm, lots. Well, in no particular order - Labyrinth, Pan's Labyrinth (I weep all the way though that), The Last Unicorn, Stardust, The Little Mermaid (I know, I'm a big wean really), Beauty and the Beast, Vampire Princess Miyu, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Paprika, Mirror Mask, The Princess Bride, Legend, Interview with the Vampire, Dracula, Mary Reilly, Ella Enchanted, Kiki's Delivery Service, Doctor Who, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, City of the Lost Children, Dungeons and Dragons TAS, Batman TAS, Knightmare, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, The Slipper and the Rose, Ever After, Little Norse Prince, the Cat Returns (and Whisper of the Heart, though I'm not sure if that's strictly fantasy). As I said, lots. I may add to this as more come to me.
Favorite Fantasy/Scifi Books
Again, lots. The Last Unicorn, Dracula, Carmilla, The Princess and the Goblin, The Princess and Curdie, Stardust, V for Vendetta, Promethea, Interview with the Vampire, Grimms Fairy Tales, Tithe, The BFG (again, I'm such a wean), Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Hamlet (I know, it's a play, but there's no play section), The Tempest, A Midsummer Nights Dream, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Book of Lost Things, Peter Pan. Sigh, lots, just believe me, lots.
Favorite Music
Mostly rock, but I'm pretty eclectic in my tastes, my absolute favourite is Within Temptation, but I also like the Smashing Pumpkins (not so much their new stuff, better in the old days - of god that makes me sound old), Iron Maiden, Ludovico Einaudi, Black Sabbath, Meat Loaf (don't ya just wanna hug him) Alice Cooper, Allison Crowe, Norah Jones, The Darkness, Bowling for Soup, David Bowie, Avril Lavigne, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, Battleheart (or Alestorm , whatever they're calling themselves these days), Doro, Foo Fighters, Incubus, Silverchair, Korn, Rage Against The Machine, Marilyn Manson (though he's better on CD than live sadly), Metallica (the older stuff), Nightwish, The Offspring, Placebo, Queen, The Sex Pistols, Tenacious D, you know, I should have warned you again at the start - lots!

I know this is the third comment ive made here but I cant help it. ytour new stuff is really good. and I hoipe the exam board liked it because it is seriously amazing stuff. I noticed that in alot of the newer picures you have used masks, strangley enough I did my sg exam on a red velvet masquerade mask for portraiture. well done. and can I just ask how you get your pictures back from the SQA because my art teacher said that you could'nt.

16 Elizabeth Ann Duffy replies: "YOU TEACHER LIES! The school has to send word to the SQA that the work is wanted back, and there is a fee which can be payed by either the school or you. (I know it's awful that you hvae to pay for your own work, but it IS the SQA) If you don't get it soon they'll incinerate the work, because they are *^&%@$^%!^. Call them to find out if your's survived or not, and when you get back to school, expose your teacher for the filthy liar s/he is! No one should tell you you cannnot get your artwork back, it imply isn't true!"

You're really good at coloring! I think it's hard to color my pics and make it looks OK, but yours are good!

Amazing work! I totally love the way your pieces move. The dramatic light and shadow and the way their colored and textured. I almost want to reach out and touch them just to see what it feels like. Great stuff. Also, your blood is very well done. I'm actually very hemophobic (I will pass out at the sight of blood) and "monster" caught me off guard. A great piece... but my temperature did spike there for a little bit.

I also wanted to let you know that the comment exchange has moved from ET to it's own domain: http://www.commentexchange.org

I hope to see you there.
