| 27 Jan 2002 | Joshua 'Sparrowhawk' A. Musket | Loading...Very cool picture. Cat-like fur as an excuse Sän? Try getting a cat to wear even a somewhat loose collar. I have four cats, the fourth, by the name of Grimm, is somewhat psychologically damaged, as he was formerly owned by some girls. It must be hard for Scratch to even wear the braclets w/out wanting to scratch the every 10 seconds. Back to the pic: I like the musculature and envy the head, arms, and feet. Be nice if I could draw that well. James Milligan replies: "I appreciate your comments on "so well", Josh, but... honestly? I see SO MUCH wrong with this picture... =( Thank you, though! You do me well with your comments. Practice! It's the key!" | |
| 1 Apr 2002 | Robbye N. Nicholson | Loading...Oooo.. it's a furry. Kinda. I LOVE her expression... she looks fierce! Uh, of course, in a kitty-like way. James Milligan replies: "Heh. If you consider Puma's "Kitties"..." | |
| 6 Jun 2002 | Anonymous | Loading...To the people talking about nudity and all that stuff. Those people did that as part of a study of the human anatomy. The renaissance sparked humanism which took after the Greek way of doing stuff (like making people look like gods although they may not look that good =O ). It is hard to believe that artisans such as ,oh, let's just say the four guys who had turtles named after them in a kids TV show, did all their works of art as "naughty". As for being against the "Judeo-Christian-Islam" area there, Islam don't belong in there man. I do realize the Christians, which I am, went a little overboard there in the Crusades, but hey that was a political thing as much as a religious thing. The English King saw an opertunity to take some land, make some money, and so on, by attacking the Muslims and recapturing holy land (Isreal). The CATHOLIC church saw the same opertunity and made all these insane promises, like forgiveness in heaven, never have to go to confession again, and so on. The Catholic Church wasn't exactly wrong either, just a little confused. They can be pretty messed up. In fact, in one crusade they send thousands of young boys to the tip of Spain, and claimed God would perform a miracle and part the waters so they could walk right into Africa. That is an Insult to all Christians. The kids waited and waited until eventually some slave traders picked em up and they were sold as slaves. They still had no right to attack the Muslims, but hey, think about all those little civilizations that were around back then, they could of claimed that the land used to belong to them a thousand years ago or something like that and prolly be right. Muslims like to blow themselves up and then claim they are Martyrs. They claim non violence (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA) but if you talk smack about them, they go and kill you. What a surprise! Not all Muslims are bad, in fact most of them are great people who devote their lives to their religion in a commendable way. I am talking about the Muslims buggin the Jews. This information should be common knowledge if you attended HIGH SCHOOL. I swear you drawing people need to use THE OTHER SIDE OF YOUR BRAIN ONCE IN A WHILE. Oh and it's a decent picture although I don't think it is intended to be a "study of anatomy". James Milligan replies: "Islam is a valid part of the "Faiths of Abraham", good sir, as it is derived, just as the Christian faith, from Hebrew texts and practices. Mohammed's followers study and follow a text that teaches them to believe in peace and intelligence, rather than war and stupidty. That a relative few extremists have made a bad name for their faith is a terrible tragedy, just as the Crusades (specifically the Childrens Crusade, that you mention, which was a tool for the Catholic Church to gain a tremendous amount of land and money) were for the Christian faiths at the time. The Christian Purges of the late middle ages and Renaissance, where entire sects of Protestants were wiped out (Go read up on the Anabaptists, for example), were a tragedy that huge numbers of religious leaders today refuse to accept, despite the fact that they were recorded in the scrolls of church history. But that is enough religious debate for this message board. Let us discuss it no more (and in fact, I'll delete any more conversation on this topic, as this is SUPPOSED to be about artwork, remember?).And, quite honestly, I really don't see where you get off telling me that you don't think my own artwork is what it is. I drew it, you didn't, drive on." | |
| 30 Jun 2002 | Ball'o'Cheese | Loading...I like the fact that despite the facy shes nude, she certainly isnt seductive. The whole feel for the look is certainly one of natural, comfortable nudity over anything provocative. Although she could probably manage to get a loincloth on, when you really think about it. Though she wouldnt be comfortable... I tool up your challenge and tries to put my cat into a spandex suit. Im recovering well, and the doctors say I might regain sight in the other eye. ^_~ Cats do not like clothing. Unless they're sleeping on it. ^^;; James Milligan replies: "Or shredding it. Can't forget that. " | |
| 19 Sep 2002 | Ratcatcher | Loading...As a devoted fan of CATS ( Short pause for booing and hissing to pass ) I have considered the matter of humanoid cats. As you say she can wear clothing but why would she fight in it? This is a challenge stance, the promise of bad things if you cross me! As for buttons, claws can press (Ask ANYONE with a kitten going purr, knead leg, good human ) a button but could they push one through a hole? Almost any cat will tolerate a collar (protests to the contrary, perhaps a different color or style is desired),but much more than that. . . As for joints he said fused not artheritic, fused joints are not that uncommon in the animal world, reduced flexibility but greater strength. By the way I like the picture, but I am in favor of color images of dynamic stances. James Milligan replies: "Do you know... I still haven't decided what color her fur really is... Hum..." | |

James Milligan replies: "In fact I have, and the villain, Hemmingway, who turned Scratch into the Mutate she is now, got a lot of his reasearch from an old, abandoned lab that he found on a strangely deserted South Sea island..." | |
| 22 Oct 2003 | GrinReaper_B) | Loading...I happen to like the way she looks, with one tiny exception: I think the ears need to be shorter and have more rounded tips, with perhaps a wider base. James Milligan replies: "Not for the type of cat I was going for, actually. If I were going for maybe an anime-catgirl style, or a domestic cat, or perhaps a lion, maybe. She's based on a long eared desert cat, so they're good as they are. But thank you! " | |
