| 29 Sep 2005 | Phantasmatical | Loading...I would like to direct you to two of my favorite sculpters on this site. Take a look at their galleries, they're very good. And about the pieces, I like the shaping of the face. The only thing I have to complain about is the fact that their bodies could never fit inside those shells. It just doesn't work. That said, I know this is fantasy and isn't supposed to be anatomically correct. Erin ´EireWolf´ Metcalf replies: "hehe... I know they wouldn't fit inside the shells. They're not supposed to, actually. Being fierce fighters, they would never retreat inside their shells to avoid danger, anyway. I suppose I should explain... Here is a blurb from my description of all my Dragon Snails ™ (which I put on my eBay auctions):
Dragon Snails ™ do not have the ability to retreat inside their shells as snails do. Rather, the shell appears to be an affectation adopted by the species as a way to attract food. Entirely carnivorous, the species seems to prefer a diet of snails. They will also eat some insects, as well as frogs, birds, and small rodents whose intention was to make a meal of them. Larger would-be predators are strongly discouraged by a fierce nip or a sharp horn. Dragon Snails ™ are far faster than they appear and will even snatch a swooping bird out of midair!" | |

| 4 Aug 2007 | Kaylin | Loading...Wonderful! Simply wonderful! I love them! They are very realistic and have a very horse like head Erin ´EireWolf´ Metcalf replies: "Thanks Kaylin! My early days were very much influenced by the horse form, so lots of my dragons end up with a somewhat horse-like head¡ " | |
| 5 Jan 2008 | Stephanie S. K. Marbach | Loading...The idea with the shell snail dragons is just amazing !!! I wonder one thing: What did you use for the eyes? It also gives them a sort of an evil look, never thought of snails being evil... So that’s an interesting mix of creatures:=)! Erin ´EireWolf´ Metcalf replies: "Thank you Stephanie! I use different things for my creatures’ eyes, but for these guys I used black glass beads. I love using those for the more ominous creatures; it makes their eyes seem very fae and feral." | |
