I really like the background you put him in to, specially that long, twisted branch there. It’s so cool when artists do such a set of scene, it looks so much better and more real and vivid than if you just put your sculpture on your table or such... i really like his beard, it gives him something, hm, kingly... ! Erin ´EireWolf´ Metcalf replies: "(Wow, you’ve commented a lot; thank you!!) I’ve been putting beards on more and more of my creatures lately. Hmmm, maybe it’s because I’m influenced by my husband’s goatee! "

I can’t think of any way you could fix that, though, now that the clay’s hard, so just ignore me I love the black horn, and the position! He’s so sweet! Erin ´EireWolf´ Metcalf replies: "Thanks! Yeah, I agree about the head and neck. Although, I think the angle of this photo makes them look even bigger than they are. I want my next unicorn to be a bit more delicate and deer-like, I think. | 5 Jan 2009 | Mary Ann Zachar | Loading...I think the heads fine, most horse sculptures on elfwood have the head way too big but this one is very well proportioned, it looks real. I like the detail, roans have got to be hard to paint. Erin ´EireWolf´ Metcalf replies: "Thank you! I paint in several layers, and with the stippling technique I use, roans sort of come naturally! I have to think harder if I want to paint a different sort of coloring.... "
