This is a commission a friend of mine asked me, for the cover of his band's first CD, 'Dreamless falling'. The original is huge if you think that it's made for a CD cover: 40x40 cm, but I had to do it so large because they wanted me to put in the picture a number of images from the lyrics (the castle, the thunder, the pregnant elf queen, the jester, the dog, the horn, the banner, etc etc etc.)<br> I'd have preferred a simpler picture, for you could have seen better the particular and imho it'd have made more sense, but anyway I had great fun doing this one. Watercolor on paper, November 1999.

It's also excellent to see someone who understands the relationship of horse/human size ratio!!! Too many people make little tiny figures aside great big animals. This is a wonderful picture, and congratuations on getting the commission! I hope it leads you to many more.

The colors here are beautiful, like jewels. The whole reminds me of a medeival manuscript illumination, like something from a Book of Hours. Also, thsi is extremely vivid for watercolor. What kind/technique are you using?

Love the colors! The thunder and lightning could have been a bit more impressive, but otherwise I like it, like very much indeed. The road leading from the stormy darkness to bright daylight is a nice touch - lots of symbolism there, further emphasized by the phoenix(?) waiting for the travellers in the sunrise...

You coaxed amazing colors from your watercolors! THis is lovely, and with all that activity, not too busy.

The image is simply stunning. This work is a great display of Elfwood's true fantasy self. I particularly like the natural poses of all the characters in this piece. For me, watercolour can be a tricky medium to get to grips with. You, however, show great skill using it. This picture, is, in all honesty, one of the best pieces that I have witnessed here on Elfwood.

Great whimsical picture - like a tapestry in that is obviously intended to show a story rather than just be pretty - though it is that too
