Death to my really god awful scanner. It didn't do justice to my drawing... blah. The shading isn't all that great, but the scanner just enhanced its un-greatness. Fie on it!! Anyway... this drawing started as just the assasin, but she was very small, and not that good, so I decided to expand and create part of the town where she was 'working'. I always like medievil/fantasyish towns with taverns ^_^ I believe this is another math class drawing... The most fun part of this was creating everything in the Apothecary window. Its actually an 'Apothecary and Other Magickal Items Store', but what do you know you can't read it because my scanner has ISSUES!!

not bad at all. As for scanner problems, try changing DPI resolution if it is possible. Some allow you to play with how it reads. I know from experience how finiky it can be about notebook paper. Try PhotoStudio 2000, it came with my scanner, but I'm not sure about its availability. It's set up a lot like Photoshop, but easier and less complicated. A program like that will enable you to enhance and clean up details your scanner normally fudges.
keep up the good work!

:-) Natalya 'Thanatos' Bree replies: "Thanks for the tips! I don't think I have that program, but I have a couple others I still have to play around with. Thanks!"

I must admit, I know hardly anything about scanners either, so I'll keep my mouth shut on that count. 2
I really enjoy it when peple make an entire scene in a picture, like you've done here. The biggest thing I could suggest is to investigate perspective- it is a topic covered in loads of art books. Or not, it is entirely your choice... but, it is something to do when browsing in libraries. 2

:-) Natalya 'Thanatos' Bree replies: "Yeah... perspective is definitly not my forte. I'll definitly look into it, thanks!"

Nice! I like how you illustrate a scene. .. Perspective, ah.. I recall that. It was part of my Art I class last school year, (9th grade.) I Absolutely abhored it. I hated it because it was more geometric-based than creative allowing, and it had to be a modern city. I hate modern cities! .. But this is an old city so I like it. :-P .. Anyway, I've always liked freehand drawing more, and can become quickly irritated when the ruler comes out. :-( It's all based on having a horizon line and a midpoint and such.. But it can be a neccessity for scenic art at times. That's why most of my RP characters prefer to stay away from the cities -- for the artist's sake! :-P

Anyway, I suppose it wasn't the worst project.. Worst one was shading. -- And believe me, I'm fine with shading, but it was shading objects and nothing else. No room for creativity. o_O Horrible! :-P But that's over, and Art II is much freer. 1 .. My how I've rambled on. Great picture though! The assassin's got a mean look.. Wonder what she's planning? Personally, one of my characters would go into the alley way there and await a victim -- but then again, they're vampires.. And that's a whole nother story. ;-)

:-) Natalya 'Thanatos' Bree replies: "Perspective... I think in Middle School art ((what a worthless class)) we did perspective for about a day, but I haven't been able to fit any art classes in my schedual in HS, which is really annoying 8Thanks for the support about my illustrating ^_^ I sorta kinda tried to make it seem like she was hiding in the doorway, in the shadows, but that idea totally went down the drain. Alleyways, they are cool, and probably work better."

Perspective eh? eeesh. I'm quite poor with that and even worse at foreshortening. If you dont believe me check out my darkelf picture. This is actually alot better than what I could do at the mo.

Your work is nice and broad. Not just in this piece but in your whole gallery. That's good. You're building an excellent foundation for your artistic career. Wish I did that. 2

:-) Natalya 'Thanatos' Bree replies: "No, I think your dark elf drawing is awesome!!! Thanks for the complement tho, it was very inspiring ^_^"

Wow cool pic!

:-) Natalya 'Thanatos' Bree replies: "I'm glad you think so!"

Is this done on graph paper to help even your proportions or just cuz you were drawing in class? Heheh.. Either way, it's an excellent piece ^_^

:-) Natalya 'Thanatos' Bree replies: "Drawing in class, of course ^_^"

I’m not quite sure where your assassin is supposed to be standing... is she in a window for the apothecary’s shop? In an alley? Due to the lack of shading and roof on that place, I really just don’t know, and it’s seriously buggin’ me... *hisses at picture and demands it gives up the assassin’s location... or things could get ugly* *twirls Muffin Lance as picture refuses to speak* *small children and pregnant women are cautioned to avert their gazes right about-*

*NOW*

*scream, gore, jab. But not in that order.*

Have a nice day. ^_~

:-) Natalya 'Thanatos' Bree replies: "Hrmm... she's supposed to be standing in a sort of doorway, and skulking in the shadows. I think. Actually, I have no idea... maybe she's just there...or something."
