SciFi and Fantasy Art Mythical Equines: Epona by Eline ´Ellende´ Spek

Epona is the celtic godess of horses. She was able to take the shape of a horse. White horses are the only animal capable of travelling to the otherworld, were all spirits rest and fearys, demons and other creatures dwell freely. Here she is on her way back to the normal world.
Done in black ink and watercolours, some highlights in gouache

If you have any ideas for other mythical horses I've not done yet please let me know!

Like Epona herself, the horse is flawless. You do an excellent job with all of your mythical equines, and you also get their history right. Great job, keep up the good work.

But i thought that black horses can go to the other world, because they say male kelpies are black, with pearl colored eyes, and white kelpies are female...Alot of storys and things i have read points to that... but maybe i am wroung. I love this though epona is one of my fav celtic godess.
