Riddle One

Whose tread do you tread?  What path do you steal?

What touch you embrace, at a fingertip feel?

Who wanders alone in the dark dust of night?

But joins a companion at morning’s first light?

Who runs behind?  Who runs ahead?

In foul and dark, bright and gay,

From the birth of the child to the sleep of the dead,

Only swept up in the midst of the day?

Wow! That is good. I like how it rhymes. I'm a sucker for rhyming poems and riddles.

Ok heres my stab at it. It reminds me of shadows I can't put my finger on exactly why but I think its a riddle about shadows.^_^

I’ll take a guess and say . . . your shadow!! "Whose tread do you tread? What path do you steal?" . . .

Ok, my guess is at shadows too. Hm, I’m most certainly not an expert at poems, rhymes, riddles, prophecies, and generally anything that’s poetry, but can it be that you change metre in the last three lines? I noticed it when I read it aloud... but anyhow, it’s great... makes me want to read the story that goes with it! *smiles and waves*

Okay I’m really bad at riddles, but when I read the other comments, I have to agree that it’s a shadow. I would have never thought about it myself, but it does fit the riddle. Kudos on the riddle too, because I could never write something like that 1
