I drew this picture when I visited the Sinaii Desert, Egypt with the school.  We had an hour each day where you went out into the desert on your own and could read, draw, rest etc.  I was lying next to a rock so I decided to draw it adding a few fantasy details.  I like the way this picture reminds me of the beauty and silence of the desert.  It was an experience I shall never forget.

I love this picture, the hidden imagery scattered all over the rocks, the solemn look on the rock face perfectly matches the look on the winged cat. It looks like possibly and nest so to speak, it makes me think there’s more there than I cannot see.

:-) Elsa R. Oakley replies: "Yes, I tried to hide a lot in this picture. I think I may do something similar soon but with even more hidden stuff. I quite liked the idea of it when I did it. It is a bit scrumpled as it had to travel on a camel with me for three days!"

Great sketch, Elsa! Though we have never been personally, a friend of ours who used to live in the middle East says the Sonoran Desert reminds him a bit of the Sinaii. though it is greener her, and we have the giant saguaro cacti. but when we just want to be alone we drive out into the desert, watch the clouds, and enjoy the quiet and the rocks.You have captured it perfectly!
