One scary lady... she's probably an elf, but it's never confirmed. The Other Mother is the scary baddy in Coraline by Neil Gaiman, and she is deeply disturbingly cool, thus proving that adults should read childrens' books. And makes buttons scary. I mean, buttons.

She'll love for ever and ever and ever, as long as you'll do one little thing for her... it won't hurt, she promises.

As the Cat says, "I think she wants something to love that isn't herself... Or something to eat. You never know with creatures like that."

Someday I'll paint this big and impressive, with lots of white, black and red. Pencil, early 2006.
