A world of white, burning light. A single black shadow. I wonder what lies within its dark creases of chocolate...?

The sky, the sky was suddenly lit brighter than day, brighter than anything could produce!

All except the moon, which was a dark, ominous circle in the sky, creating the only shadow known to me, right there, right at my toes, my fingertips. But O the sky! The sky was so bright I couldn't bear it. I blocked my eyes with my arm but... it was of no use. I could hide nothing, even with protection.

Where was the light coming from? It was simply a white sky. The sun was gone... I had nowhere to go and yet nothing to fear. Nothing could hide in the dark alleyways; no lies could shield themselves.

But they could hide there... in the shadow of the moon. I wondered what lain in those dark creases of chocolate: of black licorice? There was no word to describe the color in the huge, round circle. There was no other color like it. It was black, but... O so black it was... in it could hide anything, anything could hide in it! So morbid and awful, and yet, so welcoming.

My curiosity peaked and I wondered to myself, if I step into that dungeon of depression, would I ever come out?

Pretty nice li'l bit of description you've got there. *nods head in agreement with self* Ever consider working this into a larger tale? I have a feeling it would be an interesting read, to know more about this character... 'Fraid I haven't... maybe I should... But, I don't think I would have a story line to go with it. Oooh... I could probably make it like, really sci-fi or something... ooo you've opened doors!! Thank you verrrryy much 1

Nicely poetic prose you have in many of these pieces. I love the 'licorice' imagery... good work! 1 Thank you. Don't you just love what your brain comes up with once you've finished a test?

So beautiful ... So very beautiful ... Black is the perfect color, pleasing to the eyes, the embodiement of cruelty and malice, yet also containing much untapped emotion. *hug*So many ways to interpret it, only one way to observe it. -huggles- ^^

Sweet. Literally. The sky seems to be examining her, instead of visa versa.Whoa, never heard it described like that before O_o NIFTY!!!

I like the way this was written! You have a very nice talent for writing here! And the title is absolutely perfect. It caught my eye from the start.

Thanks for dropping by my page, too! If you get a chance, could you read 'Never Go Into A Portable Burlap Outhouse' for me? I want to get it published, but no one is really leaving any comments except for my friend Natalie. THanks.

Keep up the good work!

P.S. Yay for Emilys!!! Thanks! My friend Alex is the one who came up with the title -- this piece is dedicated to him now. 1

Oh! I'd love to read that!! I'm sorry I never got a chance to read more of your stories -- I've been having to use a public computer for Inetrnet up until now (I'm at my dad's), so I'll do that! 1 thanks for getting back to me so quickly!!

I love this! I've always been a fan of short stories, though I seem to bury myself in the depths of evilness in long ones > You know, it's strange, I always thought the darkness brough more sound. Lightness always smothered it to me, but then again, I'm a sufferer of night-terrors 12

again..you are a very talented writer..although I prefer poems..this short tale caught my eyes..
I think people can relate to your style:
"I could hide nothing, even with protection." could easily taken (and was by me) a sign of not being able to lie or the fear of telling other peoples secrets.I love how you inverted the colours of a perfect night sky from pitch black and a blinding white moon to an orb of doom...I rather enjoy your twisted style of hand...you will see similar reviews such as this on your other work

Again, writing is a door to your future..only if you don't loose the keyI honestly hope I haven't lost that touch. I most likely haven't, I just have it buried within me somewhere.

One day, I will write something great.

Absolutely perfect. Just marvelous. You capture the emotions so vividly, it leaves me breathless. The question at the end is so incredibly captivating. Uhm... Wow. Thank you so much. I'm glad this piece is touching and inspiring to my readers.

hmm... Nice description but...maybe it's just me not having enough sleep...I don't get it... Seem too criptical for me...everybody else liked it though...hmm I don't know, probably it's just me wanting more violence and action. It's just to provoke thought. A lot of my writings are very obscure. I enjoy forcing the reader to feel and think on an even scale, rather than one more than the other. Haven't you ever been in a situation like this? Where you've been exposed, fully, and only wanted to hide in a corner and be alone?
