A quick Elfwood search reveals that on every picture identified as an 'alicorn', at least seven people have left a comment to this effect: 'Nice pic, but the name is wrong. An alicorn is the horn of a unicorn.' So to hopefully forestall that sort of thing, let me point out that the name of the alicorn pictured here is from 'aille' or 'ali' (wing) and '-corn' (horn). See? Wing-horn, a flying unicorn. I can understand how it could go both ways, of course, with a derivation of 'licorne' or even 'a li corne', but as far as I'm concerned, in this particular case, an alicorn is a unicorn with wings. Anyone who feels the urge to comment with ''scuse please 'alicorn' is a unicorn horn this is clearly a unisus/pegacorn/griffin/cerapter' can save himself or herself the trouble.

I LOVE THIS PICTURE. I do a lot of role playing & it was a perfect idea to help make one of my characters. Thankz so much. Can I use the picture for my charra, that would be awesome. Let me no when you add more pictures like this to your web-site. Unis, pegasus, dragons, vampires (if u make them) stuff like that. Maybe some sort of feline.

I like it, and the way you decided to break down the name and show its roots for those of us that are complete idiots, namely: almost all the human race.

It reminds me of my old mare. She was a buckskin and could jump amazingly, when i was younger I imagend she was a unicorn. I miss her so much 8

You’re absolutely right!!!! The alicorn is lovely- buckskin is, somehow, a difficult colour to get right.

Awesome - you’ve got the goat beard and cloven hooves - barely anybody seems to put those in anymore! Amazing colouring on this one - the transition from body to wings worked really well
