This pic was inspired by my recent visit to the Getty Center, and specifically, the collection of antiquities.

Wow... I read your description and saw the picture and went "Hey! I recognize that!" I've been to the Getty as well, and I think I know exactly where you got this idea! Was it the base of a marble table? I remember it distinctly. So cool! I love your pic, very beautiful, great job on the anatomy, too.

Oh, goody! Looks like one of the gargouilles you'd find on an old building... Lovely griffin. =)

I want to pet it!

Actually, I believe the original type of griffon had the forelegs of a bird, so I don't think that this counts as a "classical griffon", per se; I like this picture quite a bit, though!

It looks so sad. . . I just want to hug it and make it happy again!

It looks really good. Sort of like a gargoyle. A rather CUTE gargoyle 12!

Truthfully, I am a big fan of your work. However, all the other gryphons you have here are what I would think could be realistic renditions of what the animals would look like if they were combined. Yet when it came to the classic gryphon, which is technically supposed to be a bald eagle with a lion, you leave me wanting so much more. You don't render the eagle part of it very well, and I've never seen either a lion or an eagle with that color. And the eyes are terribly unrealistic. You set such a high standard, I'm afraid, that it's difficult for you to follow yourself up. Hopefully, in the future, you could do a real classic gryphon, one as spectacular as your snowy gryphon and your jungle gryphon, and one I would be happy and proud to show all my friends.

I could see one like that in an antiquities shop all right, great work!
