Combine the magpie's love of shiny, colorful things with the piebald housecat's ingenuity at liberating them--and then flee the country, because nothing that isn't securely bolted directly to a large chunk of granite is safe from the prying claws and beak of the Magpie Griffin. For this pic, I used . . . um, everything. Colored pencil and ink on the griffin's right wing and head, as well as on about half of its tail; watercolor and ink, with a little pencil shading, on its near talon; straight watercolor for the fur on its back and the other half of its tail; a tiny bit of white acrylic on its wing stripe and the white portion of its tail; a regular graphite pencil for the chain and the ring; marker for the orange jewel; and, finally, plain wax crayon for the peacock highlighting on the griffin's wings and head. Hoo boy.

Do you think that would count for griffins who hoard socks?
Anyways...
I couldn't help but think I've been to your gallery before, and that this is what made me make a magpie griffin. =\ Except the feline part is modelled after shadow... Muscular-y silver-black kitty. xD

Awwwwwww, I want one! Although I sure like kitties more than magpies, but that is just because I live in a farming community, and magpies aren't our friends. I like the black and white! Nicely done!

I love the fact that you are one of the only artists here that makes serious effort in creating non-traditional gryphons, but also having the skill to do it well. I love the fact that some of your pictures look like photographs of real animals. You do them very well. God bless your skill.
