SciFi and Fantasy Art Nighttime Fairy by Wendy Ennaedwyn Fowler

This serence guardian is sitting underneath a moon lit sky in a fairy/faery garden, a guide for any mortal or creature that stumbles into the night. She appeared in my doorway after I had been saying a prayer to my daughter for the past 3 nights before she goes to sleep. 'May fairies and angels protect you tonight, May no harm or dread, Come to this bed bathed in holy light' and there she was, the Nighttime Fairy. I believe she watches over my daughter as well as other children as well. :) This piece took me 50+ hours and roughly 4 weeks to finish.

I'd like my pieces, whether it be a mermaid, fairy, angel, etc. to have their own unique faces as well as the personality come through. Thank-you for the compliment on the wings, I try very hard!"

The story that goes with her is very lovely too Wendy Ennaedwyn Fowler replies: "Thank-you Kamille! http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/gfx/s/sm13.gif13 And the story behind this fairy is true. I say this prayer/chant/mantra (whatever you would like to call it) to my daughter every night and it seems to bring her peace and comfort, but mommy knows she has a guardian fairy as well as angels. Now all I have to do is paint the "mess" fairies that plague my husband and mostly myself on a day-to-day basis. Our lives are blessed with magically mischief and fun!"

Out of all your beautiful, wonderful works (and even though I think Queen Mab is the best technically made piece, and Skydancer's background is phenomenal), this is my favorite. I love the gorgeous blues of her dress and wings, and the pink roses, and the green leaves. The night sky is beautiful, with just the right amount of moonglow. Is she sitting on a night-sprung mushroom? The tendrils of leaves and wings are just perfect. Everything in this picture is so lovely!
