Erica Vermette replies: "I used tube watercolors and applied the paint directly to the paper. Then I swirled them all with a large brush, using lots of water. When it was just barely starting to dry I sprinkled a good amount of salt on it. Then I dried the whole thing thoroughly with a hairdryer, and brushed off the salt. Voila! Generally I like detail (though I don't draw it much myself) but the way you managed this was very cool. Watercolor has to be my favorite medium... Her expression is... intense, in a manner.
