I know the design is a little cliche, but I didn't actually use any specific references. This is probably the only thing you'll see for a while that wasn't done with colored pencils--for this one I drew a stencil, cut it out and attached it to a piece of white paper, then let the watercolors run wild. I had to crop it a bit, in reality there's a wider band of black and it's more rectangular, but you get the idea. This is the only piece of art I've made that I have hanging on my wall.

That reminds me on chemistry in our school, I will never forget that thing. I don't know the name of the scientist who discovered Benzol, but this scientist wanted to know the molecular structure from the Benzol too, he had no idea how it could look like, and he has given up. Than one night he had a strange dream, he dreamed about a snake which bits in her tail, at the next day he tried a ring-form for the Benzol molucular and it fits perfect, today we would easy find out who Benzol looks like but for 50 years? A dream made a genius out of him. Maybe you become a famous scientist and a genius too!

:-) Erin N. Conley replies: "(that's supposed to be a fascinated stare, there) That's quite a story! Must say I hadn't made any connection to chemistry when I did this...perhaps it's some subliminal, subconscious thing, and I'm actually a scientific genius deep down ;o) Hehe thanks for the comment, probably the most interesting one I've ever had 19)"

hey, you know what i thought when i first saw this? i thought: it would be completely awesome if someone sat down a cup and it left that as a stain ring 10. sweet. nice job

22 Erin N. Conley replies: "*awed stare* oooooooh that sounds like a great trademark to use in a story...some mysterious wizard guy whose cup always leaves this kind of stain ring...it has so many possibilities! if I ever end up writing about that one, you get full credit for the idea ;o) thanks!"

That is really nice colour combination. *smiles* Would also hang it on my wall if I had done it.

2 Erin N. Conley replies: "Thanks! Yeah it's very rare for me to use my own artwork on my walls, but I liked the simplicity of this one 19) Thanks for commenting!"

veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery cool. I really like how clean and simple it is.

1 Erin N. Conley replies: "Thanks! I tend to over-complicate my drawings and paintings so this is rare for me...thanks!"

Wow, that's really... wow.

Different.

And the scientist's name was Kekule. And he discovered benzene, not Benzol.

1 Erin N. Conley replies: "Thanks! 19) I didn't even know anything about that scientist or his discoveries before making this picture but it's possible I've seen a diagram of his snake picture somewhere which subconsciously inspired this ;o)"
