Are You There?

Are you there
Walking beside my uneasy tread
The soft breath of wind
Ruffling the hair on my head

Are you the golden smile
That lies in the darkness beyond
The dulcet tones of a melody
Meandering in a stream
That runs on and on

Are you the pillow
My weary head rests to sleep
Do you catch the tears that fall
And hug my soul as it weeps

Are you the dreams
I long to live
In the deep of the night
The reassuring feeling
That says
Everything will be all right

Are you there
When I am all alone
From the depths I cry
Your wings embrace me
And together we fly
Swimming the midnight blue
Where stars sparkle
And there is nothing to fear
As you whisper
Hush my child
For I am here

i really loved this poem, it answers so many emotions that i sometimes feel. The wording and the emotions that come from this poem are almost overwhelming in a good way, it gives thereader a sense of relief.

I don't know what to say about this one. I'm rather speechless, meaning it is an *excellent* poem you got here. The rythm is very good. A person can read it either slow or fast and get the same feeling from it, which is something that's hardly ever achieved-well, from what I've seen! Very good stuff, Esther!

I have never been able to end poems as successfully and beautifully as you are able to, Esther. I admire you.

Forgive me, but I feel as though this poem does not end as happily as it implies. Was it your intention, or just my imagination, but at the end I felt as though this is still something that the speaker, the one who seeks another, is only dreaming, only looking to the day when she will not be alone. It just felt like a dreamlike sensation. I must be overimagining and taking it apart too deeply. It is well as it is, regardless of secret sad endings. This poem is really about God, or a guardian angel - the insecurities of faith which are reassured and affirmed in the end, so I don't think it's a sad ending at all...More, a happy one 2 This poem is very personal to me as it's happened to me many a time when I've been feeling insecure or think I have lost my faith.

Hey, surprisingly i liked it- being atheist and generally disliking poetry that is! Didn' sound pretentious as i find most poetry, just soothing and honest.

It's about God and Faith? I can see how that can be.. but i think to me it is ,personally, more about a special person i hold deeply.. this poem is really touching and it opens emotions inside of me. Lovely work'
