Three poems: DREAMS - one of the most beautiful dreams I've ever had a long time ago...INSOMNIA - don't you hate it when you can't sleep!...ON A SHELF - a lonely troll...

D r e a m s

A raven prince in the midst of a moonlight cascade

That tumbles from a vaulted sky above

While blackbirds circle a dance around him

Wings caressing his ivory cheek in love

An ethereal beauty none can place

Is etched in that perfect illuminated face

He raises his delicate hands to the stars in that midnight blue

Serenades an enigmatic song

Just for you

The flash of ebony eyes

The shine of a soul’s unshed tears

And he is gone

In a flurry of blackbirds’ feathers

And a fading song

I N S O M N I A

Night

Kill the light

And embrace me with your cloak of blindness

Fill me with your merciful darkness

Sing a lullaby of silence

Draw me into unconsciousness

Kidnap me to that world of peace

Where I can dance unburdened

From the war that rages in my head

There I will lie in your midnight world

Until the light finds me again

On a Shelf

On a shelf the troll watched the world go by

Gazed at the fairies

Dancing under the plaster sky

Lost himself in halls of fable and dream

Within columns of books

Silvered in a moon that could scarcely be seen

Beyond the glass window gate

Across a carpet sea

Outside with the stars

Where he longed to be

On a shelf the troll’s heart broke and died

As he watched the world go by

My favorite one is On a Shelf. It is simple and sweet and lulling.

I must say; I truly enjoyed this work. I like how you wrote it; I enjoyed Insomnia a great deal, however, On A Shelf brings something that seemed to touch a deeper cord.

well... as i read On A Shelf, it tended to evoke an image of sitting around our whole lives and not doing anything that really matters and only dreaming to act in ways that are great. not necessarily world changing (like being the next president) but doing things that could have some great significance for us as individual beings. simply, gratification for the self that never came to be.

and at the moment, i can understand it for i am failing out of school (something i love greatly) and my dreams seem to be falling away... but there is time.

i guess the room in this poem is our comfortable lives around us that we dont wish to leave, and the stars are our dreams, the things we want to do and be... and the trolls death is the extinguishing of our spirits as we loose something we hoped for...

*sigh*

*sniffles* poor lil troll...can't say he's to lucky, can't say I'm to lucky come to think of it. I can sympathize with the lil guy easily, though unlike him, I have a choice. Don't know what it is yet, but I guess it'll pop up somewhere between now and then....
I know this isn't a "Post Your Own Poem" board, but, do any of you like this poem?>
As Innocence Slumbers
She Dreams of Fae
At Midnight's Dawn
The Start of Day
But a Fairy is Killed
Whenever We Say
"I do not believe..."
They shall Flitter
Away

A_A just wrote it!

---Dreams---
I’m jealous of your dreams. If that was even a small part of what you saw in the nighttime realm, then it must have been wonderful indeed. Very nice descriptions.

---Insomnia----
*lol* I know the feeling.

---On a Shelf---
Sad... I love how you conveyed his emotions in this... I knew what he was feeling ever before you more bluntly stated it...
