Drawn on a plane back from Italy, you can tell the inspiration. In any case, this served as a D&D character illustration for one of the numerous, numerous Incandenzas. He was meant to mimic the Condottieri look.

I love his hair! Not because of the hair itself, I guess, but because so many illustrators tend to make all kinds of crazy hairdoes without looking at real-life ones.

... and of course the Conquistador armor is pure awesome.
