Milton's Paradise Lost Book I chronicles the rise of Satan from the fiery seas of Hell into which he was hurled after his exile from Heaven. This is an itty bitty illustration of that event, pencil on paper, about 5'x9'. Honestly, this is probably one of the more masterful uses of a pencil I've ever mustered.

A very beautiful pencil work. I like the sketchy feel given to the work. very subtle in design yet you give Satan's rise this feeling of huge-ness.

Sorry for the double comment but it is necessary here - after looking at it more closely, I've decided that if I had the finances, and the means of doing so, I'd buy this.

VERY well done! I'm loving how the sharp objects protrude out of the water - you've captured a certain essence of evil here.

I just thought I'd point out two things. One, Satan was not exiled from Heaven, yes he was kicked out, but no, He was not exiled, he returns there to make a wager with God in Job(which God wins, btw), and two, Satan was cast down to Earth, not Hell, because Hell is a place of eternal torment, why would he go there of all places. Nice drawing, by the way.2

I generally scout through this site for potential artists, usually with little or no success...I believe that my diligence has finally paid off, though-you are the most talented and skilled artist that I have seen in over two decades...that is not an exaggeration...I hope to work with you some day in my office at Wizards, and if you need any info, or would like to see some of my art, simply go to Wizards.com

This is absolutely beautiful. Serene despite its conflict. I am at a loss for words.
The more I look at it the more I like it.
