Fellow Elfwoodian Jason L. Simpson commissioned (YES!) this piece; well, not particularly Snow White, but... *deep breath* let me explain. Once Upon a Time, Jason happened across my gallery and noticed that I was in great need of money. Being the kind and generous soul that he is, he gave me this proposition - to draw a beautiful woman. Not just any beautiful woman, but what I thought would be the ideal woman. And it had to be appropriate for Elfwood, and therefore fantasy related. First I tried a pretty elven noble, then I tried a pregnant goddess figure, then I tried an elegantly draped elven warrior weilding a sword. But to no avail. Thankfully, I happened to watch a recent rendition of Snow White (erm.. made by HallMark, I think?), and was reminded of how I always used to adore her. She's the perfect little goth - skin as white as snow, hair as black as ebony, and lips as red as blood. (Now why hadn't I thought of her in the first place?) Going for a more classic approach for her costume and pose, as aesthetically, that's what I'm most drawn to, was surprisingly easy. I made her hair very long (she's not Rapunzel!) because I love long hair - so it just made sense, and it gave me something to do with her other hand.
Sketched in pencil, then redrawn (this was originally the 'trial' piece that I was playing around with colors on) then colored with dollar store color pencils and two or three Crayola pencils. ^-^ Why? Because I didn't want to do any smudging, and Prismas get messy. This is a very, very foriegn way of coloring for me.

Background completed October 17th, 2003. I've never done a full landscape background like this before that I can think of. ^-^ It took awhile, obviously. I like the cottage, though. .. and I added that red band to the bottom of her dress to make her legs appear longer, but... I sort of ran out of room at the bottom of the page. ARGH! So she's got short legs - BIG DEAL. So do I. ^-^ lol
