i was just starting to mess with water colors when i did this one. it is supposed to be kind of dragonesque (the face has scales on it) and maybe a little bit evil. there are several mistakes all around but im not gonna point them out ;)

Proportionwise, this is very good, however, I don't like the blank space. have you got oil pastels-try redrawing him and colouring with those, then add a background-it helps to use a photo reference for pastels otherwise it comes all weird (see indrik and centuar from my gallery, all based on sketches from photos)

2 Samantha 'Clementine' Wilder replies: "first, thanks for the comment, second...im one of those people that cant really do backgrounds all that well, so i stay away from them, i tend to concentrate more on the foreground than the background (i have been thinking about trying to push myself to do backgrounds!). thank you for the suggestion though 1"

This is a really neat design for a unicorn, I like it. It reminds me a little of the Japanese Kirin(Qilin) which are sort of like scaly unicorns.

1 Samantha 'Clementine' Wilder replies: "as far as the japanese unicorn thingy goes, i didnt realize that until just now >.< thanks for the comment!!"

This is awesome but one of the only things im gonna point out is that the tail wouldnt be like that the tail would be going one way the hair or mane is blowing the oppsosite but this is awesome for a first I LOVE YOUR ART WORK

22 Samantha 'Clementine' Wilder replies: "oh wow...i didnt even notice the mane tail thing...and thanks for the comment!! 1"

I love this one.. sooo much movement in there. The background thing is an interesting but subjective question. I'm not that fond of busy backgrounds because I think they can detract from a main subject. I do agree though that a colour in the background would emphasise the paleness of the unicorn

2 Samantha 'Clementine' Wilder replies: "funny thing about my scanner....it wont pic up slight colors....but i will definately consider the background suggestion....thanks for the comment 1"
