| 18 Jul 2004 | Galadriel | Loading...My favorite part HAS to be the wings! I love the theme and pose too. So poetic! O. J. Davis replies: "Thank you, galadriel, poetic was the look i was going for.
My sister and brother-in-law told me yesterday that he was a very feminine male, if he was a male. I give up.Have it your way, people, name the sex!"
| 18 Aug 2004 | Jessica 'Jeste' Schreib | Loading...Wow! That is sooo lovely! I love the title and the wings - cloth things that wrap around the person seem to eat her-(or is it a him?) up - as if s/he was sinking into sheets. Very very nice. Lovely! oh welcome to bifrost! Take care Jeste. O. J. Davis replies: "The whole sheets-thing was inspired by the art of Clamp in the Manga/Shojo series X-1999. And for the record, the GUY started out as a girl, therefore the femme appearance. And it is a GUY." | |
| 21 Aug 2004 | Valarie Nicharico | Loading...Well regardless of what he is, he is beautiful! The pose is so delicate and reserved...and the wings are just amazing! Excellent job! O. J. Davis replies: "Thank you *fluffs up with pride* Im better at these more bat-like wings than feathers." | |
| 5 Sep 2004 | Christy Yarbrough | Loading...Wow I do like this I love the wings, you did a wonderful job on them. I'd lean to a vampire (but I like vampire any way) - and the fact you can't tell if it male or female (as you say every one keeps remarking on is great, if you ask me. Then he could talk any one into any thing (he, he). I think it's just fantastic. All my best. Sincerely, "Moonkistfaerie" O. J. Davis replies: "I'm thinking of renaming it "hermaphrodite" so people will stop being so confused. I'm not so good at drawing masculine men. Arrien is just about the only one, and everyone think's he's got wings! :|" | |
| 21 Sep 2004 | Wayne H. Hodge | Loading...I can't find anything wrong with this drawing. It is better than anything I've done. But I really do like the shading of the wings and the fabric that is wrapped around the guy. I have a hard time with fabric and you're excellent at it. O. J. Davis replies: "I'll tell you what I tell everyone to try: Start with a white sheet or a handkerchief or cloth napkin..of a LIGHT color. (this is so you can easily tell the shaded areas from the unshaded areas...believe me, on darker cloth this all seems to blend together.) Drape it over something like a glass or basket handle (I prefer Lotion Bottle... it's thin and it makes for better folds.) and DRAW!
After you're done with that, Get something stripey and repeat. And after you're done with that, take a full length picture of yourself or someone else and draw it, focusing on the clothes. This is what I did and it helped me IMMENSELY."
| 8 Oct 2004 | Tabi | Loading...I'm sorry, but I don't have any constructive criticism. I just wanted to say your comment to Yarbrough about renaming it hilarious. That's one of the reasons I love looking at your artwork; I love to read the comments people write and the ones you write back (and your descriptions of your artwork for that matter). Oh, and yet again, your shading is great and I think you draw better 'leathery' wings than feathery wings too (not that you draw feathery wings bad, actually you're pretty good at them!). Oh, and if you like X 1999 I saw a very good drawing of Kamui by Annarosa 'Catgirl' Agarossi on here. Plus, there's been a dispute about the title of that book between me and the artist on whether or not it's just 'X' or 'X 1999' in the comment section if you want to check that out ^.^ O. J. Davis replies: "Well, if you wanna get technical, I think the proper name is "X/1999". I liked the older version of the books that were published by Animerica. Viz's publishing seems...I don't know...It can't be that different, they're all still the same book...but still...
I agree with you about the wings. Leathery ones are sooo much easier anyway. Imma have to get my friend Jack to put some wings on my characters or something, cause his wings are da BOMB! "Jack Lurhstaap Romero", If you're interested in his Elfwood gallery."
| 6 Dec 2004 | James 'Jimbo Fett ' Inwood | Loading...Nice wings, spose if i wanted to nit pick it, they could be a little spikey, but thats just me though.... | |
| 22 Dec 2004 | Vicki Sue Nemeth | Loading...Well I for one think he's masculine enough. Not every pretty guy is a feminine one. | |
