SciFi and Fantasy Art Death´s Deliberation by O. J. Davis

I'm not really sure if this is Death, or a demon, or what, really. I'm not terribly religious, and the cross necklace he's holding in his hand came on impulse. He looks like he's deliberating something, though, and people I show it to automatically say 'Oh! It's Death!'
so...
This is done in pencil right now, but I plan on going back over it later with pen and markers, maybe, or experiment with some charcoal some more. I can redraw him very easily, though, due the simplicity, so I'm not too woried about screwing it up.

Davis replies: "I really don't know what to do with this one. I don't do lineart very often, and when I started this, it wasn't meant to be lineart at all. But when I finished the outline, it looked so much better than I'd expected I couldn't bring myself to do something that would potentially screw it up until I had a chance to make copies. I've just never done anything with it since. BTW, you're very welcome to color it if you get the chance "
15 Dec 2004	Pipkin	Loading... To me the figure is definitely female. Before I saw the title I thought it was some kind of (female) angel or demon. But if it's death, it's death. Who says death need be a man. Very cool and balanced pose. I like the backward slant of her body contrasting with the forward movement of her wings, almost as if they were weighing her down. I would try colouring it in very stark black and white, like Beardsley, a scissorcut or woodcut.
