Davis replies: "That was actually an accident. I'm the kind of person who doesn't plan out his drawings before he draws them...they just kind of happen. And then I had her looking down in amazement at...something...and brainstorm! It fit in nicely with the dream, too. However, I'm still baffled as to how she got her tail into that position. She'd have to be, like, bending her knees backwards or something."
| 7 Oct 2004 | Barbara L. Jacobs | Loading...Lando- This is lovely! I love the way she looks underlit- this is really hard to do in pencil! Nice facial expression too. {{}}Barb 'Filter Fanatic' - ( still fasting?- got that Bifrost Spirit Name yet?...) ) O. J. Davis replies: "actually, the underlighting is pretty simple once you get the hang of it. basically, you just invert your shading. Like, in places where you would usually shade...dont. And in places where you usually wouldn't shade...do.
The Duh Theory.
And, no, I quit fasting...I was wearing away to shkin and bones!...not that there's much to eat in this house anyway.."
| 7 Oct 2004 | Corey Wittig | Loading...cool she looks so enthralled with her own tail. Very beautiful. O. J. Davis replies: "enthralled...I like that...will have to keep that one in mind.." | |
| 7 Oct 2004 | K. Knecht | Loading...^_^ Wow! Shes so pretty, and the expression on her face is perfect. My favorite part I must say are the eyes, very big and full of emotion. lapclapclap>! O. J. Davis replies: "My favorite part is her hand." | |
| 8 Oct 2004 | Wendy Bittnerová | Loading...That's a wonderful look of amazement on her face and I really like the lighting...she seems to glow...lovely pencil-work! *smiles* O. J. Davis replies: "I'm not quite sure where the look of amazement came from, but I got the underlighting idea from the Final Fantasy X picture I copied (http://photos.yahoo.com/heart_strings_song ... in the "art" folder, the picture titled "The Spring", I think) and having done it once to a picture I didn't create definetly helped me when I tried to use the same technique on my own art. THAT'S why I do copies." | |
| 2 Nov 2004 | Jessica L. Stachyra | Loading...You did a fantastic job on the shading, as well as the emotion on her face. Her nose seems to jut out too little...or maybe her lip juts out too much, making her face look kind of strange... I love the "glowing" of the piece O. J. Davis replies: "It's her nose, I think. I might just be saying this because I *lurve* the way her mouth turned out, but I think it's her nose that's too small..(Go on, Lando...pick the lesser of the two evils!)
For the record, yes, I do often talk to myself... >_>"
| 2 Nov 2004 | Kristina 'Aryana' Siers | Loading...Wonderful, the shading! Her face is beautiful, I love her eyes and the delicate details on her tail fin! O. J. Davis replies: "Really? I was under the impression that her eyes were kind of wanky.
I like her tail, too. Normally, I suck at veins and cracks and stuff like that, but this turned out pretty good. There's room for improvement, of course, this just turned out better than normal."
| 23 Nov 2004 | Ashley R. Wynn | Loading...Umm... Lando? You dreamed this? If you start dreaming about fish-frogs with lots of teeth in the same little scenario replacing the mermaids, you might want to read a little HP Lovecraft... *shudders* Or move inland. O. J. Davis replies: "oh, stfu
I've already told YOU about my drug-induced dreams. "
