SciFi and Fantasy Art The Twisted Tree by O. J. Davis

Part InuYasha, part Legend of Dragoon, part Ferngully, this tree was inspired by just about every twisting branch I've ever seen.

It may be a magical tree like the one in InuYasha or Legend of Dragoon that houses a life source. It may be a tree like the one in Ferngully, a place for the forest's more intelligent folk to live and meet, growing tall and strange due to some fairy magic. I'll leave that up to the viewer to decide ;)

Drawn with a mechanical pencil and shaded with a mechanical drawing pencil. After I shaded it, I alternated between my finger and a kleenex to create the smoothing effect.

25 Jan 2005	Tabitha Lee	Loading... I love the twisted tree. I actually drew a tree-type drawing not long ago that I have to put up...sooner or later. The way you shaded the surrounding trees are great. Normally, when using your finger, kleenex, or what not, I hear it creates a smearing effect that isn't appealing. I like your picture though, and it doesn't look 'smeary' to me, but kind of...I don't know...floaty? Anyway, I think you did a great job.
