I remember reading this story about this one prospector who was searching for uranium in the desert with a giger counter... He came across this one fly which killed a spider with what he thought was either a sting, or a squirt of venom of some sort. Then he finds out to his sorrow that the fly zapped the spider with a beam of intense radiation.
