Selkies are creatures from the scottish mythology. They look like seals but can strip off that skin and look like beautiful girls beneath.
If a human finds the abandoned skin while the selkie walks around in her human form, he can hide it from her and force the selkie to marry him, but that's definitely no good way to start a relationship.
