How come that the light that illuminates the rocks in the water comes from the right, but the dragon's shadow is in a different angle?
The dragon is very nice though

I tend not to pay enough attention to my shadows. I always add them as an afterthought without thinking about them too much. A mistake ill have try and avoid in the future.

Obviously in any picture of this sort, realism is vital. It seems to be a bit of a problem in this one. If you look at dragons from an anotomical point of view, flight would be impossible. Try to equate it with a bird and their huge flight muscles in the chest. Where are they in this picture?Something that huge would never make it off the ground.
It makes this beast look wimpy.

Well, actually if you had much of an eye for anatomy or realism you would have realized that the dragons wings are barely visible in the picture, and if you have the ability to visualize you would have realized that if you continued the wings beyond the illustration they would be quite massive indeed. More than sufficient to carry a beast of this proportion through the air. And secondly, realism is never vital in fantasy art, that is why the key term in the genre is "fantasy". I appreciate your constructive critisim, but do try and think before you critique.

Dragons use magic to fly. They don't have to be amitomically perfect.

i think that some people are just a little too much of a perfectionist for their own good!! this picture is GREAT i love the wing.i have seen lots of dragons on elfwood including mine that are not "anotomicaly" perfect. and the shadowing is fine you have to to look really close to notice a problem. keep up the great work i'm looking forward to seeing more

I could probably pick out a dozen pictures on elfwood that are not anatomically correct. In fact, how could a horse possibly sprout a horn on it's head and look like a half goat? Or how could a bird possibly have wings and hooves? Or humans have eyes that are the size of thier hands? It's fantasy and everyone here on elfwood draws what they think of and that is not always perfect with the standards of reality. By the way, nice pic! 2

That's a Wyvern not a dragon.

Wyverns are dragons. Its a breed.
Ok, a little realism is important to any kind of drawing but if you have too much of it you can really ruin it. The fact that we are talking about a dragon the anatomy doesn’t have to be perfect. In mine own preference I think it looks better if it doesn’t.
I think that this picture would look better if you fixed four major things, (1) less belly and more chest. (2) make the wings more even (3) fix the shadowing (4) kill the rider, he looks like hes about to fall off
