WHEN we two parted
In silence and tears,
Half broken-hearted
To sever for years,
Pale grew thy cheek and cold,
Colder thy kiss;
Truly that hour foretold
Sorrow to this.

--Lord Byron

The full poem can be found here: http://www.englishverse.com/poems/when_we_two_parted. I didn't paint with it in mind, but i came across it when i was searching for a name, and found that the poem pretty much tells the same story. This is my second picture painted for Elfwood! I spent a much longer time on this... every evening this week. It's the most complex I've undertaken, and yes, it's definitely sign of an evolution.

What an interesting story! I love the glow to that magic ball thing in his hands (what he is presumably going to unleash upon her that will bring about her undoing).

Hmm, it's rather disconcerting, but somehow affecting. It does leave one with a feeling similar to the poem, rather cold. The woman looks vengeful, the knight ... what's up with him? I'm curious about what he's holding, like he's hoarding something or too absorbed in it. He also looks a bit traumatised, if you ask me. As for her ... that thing in her hand? Wand or knife of some sort? Interesting how it forms a red line across his throat, which does suggest a rather obvious meaning ...

I'm interested how you did this, it looks like a digital painting.

:-) Lisha Fu replies: "Yeah. i realise that his expression is ambigious. He has that look because he has to kill her...or rather they have to kill each other. As for the means, well they're mages, so whatever their best weapon is I guess. And she hasn't noticed his move yet...it's supposed to be a subtle concentration of energy building in power. "

Artwork like this really inspires me. I love the expression on his face, and the whole idea behind this painting. What kind of paint did u use?

:-) Lisha Fu replies: "It's a CG painting. Thanks for visiting!"

Excellent! I love pieces with stories/poems behind them, it gives a real feeling of depth. I love the expressions on their faces, he's almost resigned and she's looking sort of gleeful. Really good work!
