"Golems" by Fyrius (Fery Camillus)

This is a Golem. Golems are artificial creatures from the parallel universe from which Lightlings also originate, and form the only material 'life form' in this universe. They are also the main reason why the Lightlings left their homeworld. They would be considered the natural adversaries of lightlings if there were anything natural about them.
They feed on Zero Point Energy and reproduce using Lightling energy, which they absorb and convert into the material body of their offspring. The light core of the Lightling is preserved and altered to form the mind of the new Golem.
At some point in Lightling history, they were created by an insane Lightling mage, and have been the greatest threat to Lightlings since then. Eventually, Lightlings have discovered Dreamworld and evacuated to it, since Golems cannot exit their universe. And ever since then they have spent aeons preparing plans to take Aether back from them, which they are still doing at present.
